Palace of Asia is my new go-to for outstanding Indian cuisine. My old favorite closed, but Palace of Asia took the sting out of that straight away. This is Northern Indian cooking at its finest. And homiest.
When you walk in, you see a spacious room that is full of big, cozy booths with high backs. It’s definitely date worthy and family worthy. There is plenty of room for large parties, also. Plenty of free parking
The menu easily accommodates both carnivores, vegetarian and vegan diets. Entrees average about $15-25 and you won’t leave hungry. The portions are better than ample. I always need a to-go box. Don’t forget the appetizers. They’re perfect for sharing. Meat, Vegetables, Fish, Seafood…it’s here. All of it cooked lovingly and conscientiously.
This place has the best Samosa Chaat I’ve ever enjoyed. The seasoning wasn’t overpowering, but rich and complex. I could’ve been happy with just that. The Tikka is always a good start if you’re not adventurous, but Palace really excels at those dishes that sometimes get ignored. The simplicity of the Palak Paneer (spinach and a creamy, cheesy consistency served with a heaping helping of Jasmine Rice) was real comfort food. The Makhani dishes, whether vegetarian as Daal (lentils) or the meat based versions are to die for. You will be hard pressed to find better in the south Jersey area. Again, the portions are large and shareable. If you like less spicy dishes, you can’t go wrong with the Korma. It is perfectly mild and very satisfying. There’s nothing average about the Biryani, either. You may think $20 is steep for a bowl of it, but the quality of the ingredients negates that. You can smell and taste the quality and experience in every dish. It’s not overpowering. It’s enchanting. You can ask your server to adjust dishes to your preference in almost anything.
Palace of Asia is unique to me because they offer a few “American Fare” items (chicken or shrimp) for those less adventurous guests who don’t want to give anything new a try.
They have a decent selection of desserts but we had no room...
Read moreThis was hands down one of the WORST restaurant experiences I’ve ever had in my life. I came to this place expecting decent food and at least bare minimum service . instead, I got ignored, disrespected, and left sitting for OVER AN HOUR waiting for food that should have taken 20 minutes, max.
The staff? Completely useless and rude. No greeting, no updates, no apologies, just blank stares, attitude, and complete indifference. Every time we asked what was going on with our order, they brushed us off like we were bothering them. God forbid you expect communication or even a shred of hospitality. They acted like doing their job was a favor to us.
And after waiting all that time, when the food finally arrived, it wasn’t even hot. No flavor, bland, thrown together like an afterthought and still, no apology. Just dropped the food on the table and walked off like we didn’t just waste over an hour sitting there starving.
This place is a total disaster. Horrible service, unprofessional staff, and they clearly have zero respect for their customers’ time or money. I don’t know who’s running this place, but they need a serious wake-up call, you are in the business of hospitality, and what you’re doing is an embarrassment to the industry.
Save yourself the frustration, the time, and the headache. There are plenty of other Indian restaurants that actually care about their customers and serve food on time. I wouldn’t come back here if it was the last...
Read moreWe ordered: Harabara kabab this was good Mango lassi good tasted like it was made from yogurt which is good and not cream. Paratha: this is the best plain paratha we have ever tried. Dal makhni was excellent Vegetable makhani: this was disappointing. The colour was very unappealing and unappetising. They added so much food colour that the gravy was neon orange. I don’t think they need to add this much food colour or any food colour. The taste of the food at this restaurant is actually pretty good. They don’t need to worry about the colour of the gravy.
We couldn’t eat this so had to send it back and we then ordered baingan Bartha. This was also excellent. The Smokey flavour was very good.
Over all this is a good Indian restaurant (as an Indian myself) I find it hard to get good food outside since we make most of the dishes at home. So to go out and pay hard earned money to eat mediocre food that I could make better at home is just annoying.
However you don’t disappointed if you eat here. Especially as a vegetarian.
The best part was we eat spicy and ordered level 7. And the balance of all flavour was perfect.
I really hope management reads this and sends feedback to their chefs and make the decision to stop using food colour. Your food is good. You don’t need to add food colour. There is lots of research on how bad food colour is. Infact it is even banned in...
