The Marketplace — Restaurant in Marathon

We spent the night in Marathon, and the next morning, I was in need of a good coffee to kick-start the day. A quick search led me to The Marketplace, which had coffee on their menu and seemed like a great option for a morning pick-me-up.

The Marketplace was just a 5-minute drive from where we were staying, and finding parking nearby was easy and hassle-free. As I stepped inside, I was immediately impressed by the inviting ambiance. The space was not just a coffee spot but a versatile marketplace offering a variety of items for purchase, including food, coffee, beer, and even home decor.

From the menu, I decided to go with a classic Latte served hot. The service was efficient, and my coffee was ready within 5-10 minutes. With coffee in hand, I was quickly back on my way to continue the day.

The latte was everything I needed in the morning--freshly brewed with a smooth, rich flavor. It had just the right balance of creaminess and a hint of sweetness, as it wasn't overly sugary, which suited my preference perfectly.

Terrible experience with rude barista. Came in on 1/4 around 430 pm. Ordered a hot 16 oz americano. Saw barista begin making drink by putting ice into the cup for my hot americano. I politely said no ice please and she barked at me " its 220 degrees!!" I said that's ok I like my hot drink extra hot. She abruptly dumped ice out. Watched her make americano. An americano is shots of espresso and hot water. She proceeded to pull the 2 shots of espresso and then instead of topping it with hot water she continued pulling shots through the same used espresso grinds until the cup was full. If you're going to charge $6 for an americano, train your staff to make the espresso drinks properly. This was a gross drink, would have had a better coffee from a gas station for...

Simply perfect! We stayed at the Isla Bella Beach Resort and happened upon the Marketplace. We're glad we did! The food, desserts, coffee, and adult beverages are priced well below the norm for the Keys. Such a perfect spot to grab some Gelato (oh, can you say half-priced Gelato from 3-4pm?!).

Nice little boutique selection of not-too-touristy merchandise. Wonderful space next to the marina, event center, and spa. A truly exceptional experience from the WONDERFUL staff blew us away.
