Learn moreLet me start out by saying that I am very happy with all the Safe Harbor Marinas I have stayed at including my home marina in Connecticut. I would recomend any boater i meet to stay with them. They have been nothing short of great. Safe Harbor Marathon is an exception. I stayed there for part of the 23/24 winter. From the moment I spoke to Allysa the dockmaster on the phone about my upcoming stay that winter I was inundated with there rules and regulations on what you couldnt have at the marina or do at the marina. I had just paid my security deposit a few days before we spoke. When i asked about canceling my reservation she told me I would not get my deposit back even though my stay was almost a month away. so against my better judgement I decided to stay there that winter. Every other marina I have ever stayed at treats their guests like guests. Safe harbor Marathon treats it's guests more like inmates. While I was back at home for a few weeks, i received a phone call from a boater in marathon who had hit my boat in the marina and done some damage. When I called Allysa to get the other boaters insurance information etc. She refused to give me the information. I finally had to call the Monroe county sherrifs dept. to file a report and have them get the information. To my surprise the sheriff told me she would not give him the information either. Luckily in the end the boater did the right thing and reimbursed me for the repairs. No thanks to Safe Harbor Marathon. When I asked Dotty in the office about leaving 2 months early she told me I signed a contract and would be responsible for the remaining 2 months and I would lose my security deposit. A total of about $6,500.00 even though that sounded ridiculous to me I decided I could not stay at a marina like that anymore. If Safe Harbor Marathon responds to this review they will say I left without any notice which is true, but after Dotty's remarks I had nothing to lose so I left and went to another marina for the rest of the winter. I would rather lose thousands of dollars than stay there one more night. If you are ever in Marathon do yourself a favor and stay anywhere else but Safe...
Read moreWe arrived Safe Harbor Marathon on Saturday March 15. Prior to arrival I requested a pierside pumpout sometime during our 3 days stay, avoiding a passing cold front and significant winds. They told me, at that time, the West dock t-head pumpouts are normally Tuesday afternoon after check out time. I asked again during our stay if its possible for the pump guy to start at the t-head instead of the other end the other end of the pier so we could resolve the issue before departing at the 1100 check out time. The office employee told me that he would try. I asked the manager again this morning if the pump out could jump ahead of his normal routine was told, no, pumps are not on demand. So we left. This is the first time, at any marina, that the customer service was so inflexible to help. We did not think we were asking for much, in my opinion, especially after spending $680.93. In addition, the t-head has large pilings on the outside of the cement pier that do not have horizontal wood, cushions or fenders. So no matter how you arrange your own fenders prior to arrival there is a high chance of direct boat to piling connect, at least until you can position your horizontal fenders appropriately. Not a very welcoming situation for passing transients. Lastly, an otherwise very nice Safe Harbor location with excellent facilities, laundry, outdoor gathering spots and an onsite restaurant. Next time in Marathon, I'll be taking my business elsewhere and suggesting the...
Read moreI’ve never been treated so poorly by staff at any establishment. I recommend coming here if you want to be treated like hot garbage. We parked our trailer and boat in the shipyard for our first night and gave a $100.00 deposit with plans to dock the boat for 7 nights. The treatment from management changed those plans. We drove our boat down from Ohio and needed to start the boat outside of the water as it hadn’t been run for several months. A female manager stated we couldn’t have access to a hose because water is a precious resource and would be charged per gallon. Fine we said, but were still unable to get access to water. Staff seemed like they didn’t want us there so we began to look elsewhere for docking. Upon telling staff we would be taking our business elsewhere and would like to pay for the one night spent in the shipyard, the previously mentioned female manager stated she would be taking the 100$ deposit (despite another worker saying it was 25$ a night) and got in my face loudly asking, “where are you taking your boat instead?!” I tried to leave saying “fine, take the deposit” and was further harassed by this lovely individual. Nice way to start a vacation. That women should be fired. I can only imagine how she treats her staff if that’s how she treats customers. We ended up finding another dock across the street and could not have had a...
