Doreen’s was a recommendation from a family friend that regularly visits Marco Island. Doreen’s is a local favorite and rightfully so. This restaurant is right along the main road to Marco Island. We decided to visit for brunch on a weekday, but regardless of the day of the week, you will likely wait for a table. We arrived around 8:30am and waited but about 45 minutes for a table. I think the average wait time is somewhere between 30-60 minutes depending on your party size. It did look like the restaurant could accommodate large parties (6+). For a party of three, we were seated at quite a small table, would’ve been nice to have just a bit most space at our table but I digress. When we were seated, the staff attending to our group was friendly and timely with obtaining our order. Our food then arrived very quickly. We ordered a stack of pancakes for the table in addition to separate orders. The pancakes were great, we didn’t add anything fancy to them though I do believe they have some “extra” options. I personally ordered the avocado toast with an egg. My only thought was “why so much arugula?” My plate was covered with arugula, so much so that I had to unbury and search for the avocado toast. Alas, the avocado toast was still very good once I found it. The menu is quite extensive, lots of classics and some classics with a twist and some flare. Overall, an excellent breakfast experience, all were satisfied, and I would definitely wait in line again to eat here again...
Read moreVery disappointed. Had very high hopes for this place based on their reviews and people telling us to go here. We sat inside and our server Aura asked what we wanted to drink and then proceeded to ask what we wanted to order to eat. We asked for a few minutes because we felt extremely rushed. A couple minutes roll by and we were ready to order. The server did not repeat back order. She brought my partner the wrong food and when my partner asked for the correct food she had a really bad attitude. Instead of just apologizing and taking the food away she argued with him that he in fact ordered what she had brought. After a few minutes they finally brought my partners food. My food on the other hand had rotten strawberries and burnt sausages. There was flies all over the place. Then to top it off we had reminded our server while we were eating that she had not brought something we ordered and when we asked for the check she had still charged us for the food we never got. We told her we never got the food and she snatched the receipt and looked very annoyed of us. We kept seeing the server talk to other coworkers and she never really asked us if we needed anything. I am never recommending this place to anyone. If you do not like dealing with customers and always have an attitude work...
Read moreYou've never had breakfast until you've tried Doreen's Cup of Joe! You walk through a shabby chic outdoor covered patio to get to the hostess stand and for our party of two, we waited about 25 minutes on a Sunday around 11:45. I had read a review that mentioned Doreen's was worth the wait - sage advice because D's delivered and then some.
We started with coffee and their fresh squeezed orange juice - you can see the machine going to work as you walk in. Then as we like to do, we ordered a few items to sample.
The Lemon Ricotta pancakes with strawberries came highly recommended, as did the Vince's Crab Cake Benny and the Mexican skillet.
The Lemon Ricotta pancakes were very thin and with a lovely, slight lemon flavoring which matched so well with the strawberries and the maple syrup- these were the best pancakes we have ever had! They were amazing!
Vince's Crab Cake Benny was so flavorful and out of this world and with perfectly cooked poached eggs, you'll be dreaming of this combination 😋 do yourself a favor and give them a go!
The Mexican Skillet had plenty of creamy avocado, veggies and those perfect poached eggs again. I got the side of sourdough toast too!
So do yourself a favor and make your way to Doreen's! We're happy we came here early in our vacation- we'll...
