Dairy Queen Grill & Chill — Restaurant in Maricopa

I moved to Maricopa two years ago, and if you want ice cream Dairy Queen is the only option out here. The service is very poor, the wait time is very high, and they are regularly out of most items such as bananas. Our town is used to this and expects this from this location, just check the Yelp reviews. Tonight we decided to go for ice cream and our expectations were low as usual, but even with the low expectations I was blown away by the way I was treated. I think the guy said three sentences to me. "One minute." "What do you want?" And "That's $15.38". The tone was so rude as if I was an inconvenience in his day. After I gave him the money, he just held my change out the window with one hand while the rest of him was inside the window and he just held it out there until I took it. Not one thank you or nice tone, not even a smile. Thank goodness the Freddy's just opened in town for another option, because I will never go back there. I am so shocked that I was there as a nice paying costumer and was friendly and smiles with my kids and I was treated like a pain in the butt that just needed to leave. First time going to Dairy Queen, looks like is one of the first places that opened in Maricopa. Because of covid they were doing drive through only. But I needed an Ice Cream cake, and I got in through the gas station. The ladies there were nice. About that cake, it was the bigger cake they had. And the only Oreo cake. So I took it, it was about $32. Seemed pricey for a cake, and I was hoping it was worth it. Well, it was worth it. The cake it is made with ice cream, and Oreo cookies. If you like Oreo cookies, you will love this cake. It also has chocolate fudge, but ours was too frozen that we barely saw it getting gooey. We didn’t need a 10” cake, but I took it. We would had been ok with the smaller one, but they didn’t have Oreo on that size. They had just a few cakes actually. I had an ice cream cake from Fry’s before, this was a lot better than that. In Arizona I've come to realize, that, on some days, when I'm really hungry I need more than just a cool/cold glass of water to cool myself down, before I can even eat. I can tell you, DQ, has what it takes to cool you down and then satisfy your hunger. Me, I first do what mother never would let me do. I order a medium Blizzard 🥛, light on the milk 🥛. I take my time eating the Blizzard, savoring the flavor of every cold 🥶 bite. By the time I am cooled down from the inside out, I've had time to decide on what I'm going to have to satisfy my hunger. Most of the time, I turn to one of DQ's meals. I've found I save money this way because when I wall into DQ, I am thinking 🤔, man I'm super hungry but by the time I've finished my DQ Blizzard, I can only eat one of their medium meals at most, so I no longer find myself stuffing one of DQ's large meals down, and feeling awful the rest of the day. This saves me money and makes me money at the same time because I eat less, and I get more done after I return to work, win win,...
