Dumpling Garden May / June 2025 (and counting)
My wife and I have gone to Dumpling Gardens 3 times in the last few months and going back again for Father’s day. Customer service was excellent .
The first time was various dumplings and the Pu Pu platter. The Pu Pu platter was good for having a sample of a lot of things, but would most likely not get it again. We did find out that the Crab Rangoons are really good and always order it as a side. We have tried the Pork & crabmeat, chicken & mushroom, and I think the pork and shrimp. A few of them we paid the extra to get them fired. All of them good and would do all of them again.
The small soups ($5) are huge, well worth it. Hot & Sour is my favorite, my wife liked the Wonton soup, but the egg drop soup needed some extra flavoring. I’d skip it unless you are taking it home to spice it up.
We came for the lunch deal (and it’s a deal) one afternoon (From 11:00 am to 4pm). Getting 3 entrée’s each was able to help us refine the entrée’s we like. The Orange chicken and the Kung Pao chicken were the winners (along with the crap rangoons). Tried the Pad Thai, not bad, but just not what we are used to.
In summary, It’s the “Dumpling Garden” and all of their dumplings are incredible, if you want dumplings of any sort this is the place. Their Chinese menu is pretty good, and they have a Szechuan and seafood menu we have not been able to try yet. If you come for the dumplings 5 star, everything else I’d say is around a 4 star, still very good, but just not their incredible dumplings.
And there is a Freddy’s custard right across the street if you want desert after your...
Read moreI dined here a couple of weeks ago. I’ll start off by saying the waitress we had was really amazing and just the sweetest person. It was really busy and they only had 2 servers so it took forever to get service and then the items seemed rushed out; they messed up a few things on the order; the pork dumplings were undercooked and had to be sent back (crazy considering their specialty is dumplings); dumpling did not taste handmade or fresh, they seemed frozen and reheated; they don't have fountain drinks so you have to keep ordering cans of soda/juice; the Boba tea was really watered down and not good at all. The actual entrees were decent. Side note and pure preference: the lighting in there is ridiculous, it is sooo friggin bright, they should dim it down. Also they have this chime sensor at the door that goes off anytime someone walks in/out or repeatedly goes off if someone is standing at the front waiting for takeout or to be seated. It was extremely annoying to hear it go off every few seconds, they should deactivate it during busy hours. Also the menu is incredibly large for such a tiny place… it’s basically like a diner menu, there are pages and pages of items. It would serve them better to drill down on a few items that they can perfect. That would increase the quality of the meals they serve. Prices were very reasonable. I may give this place another try in a few weeks in hopes things have improved since they’ll have been open...
Read moreCame here yesterday before heading to a show. The staff was incredible and very sweet. They really made everything a nice experience. The restaurant wasn’t super crowded it was just right and a very calm and beautiful space. They have a huge menu with multiple Asian cuisine styles to fit your preferences. As an appetizer they give you an air puff fried noodle with sweet sauce to snack on while you’re looking at the menu which was tasty and pleasant. I came for the dumplings since I heard they have some of the best. I ordered the Shanghai Beef and Pork pan fried dumplings. I’m used to the pan fried dumplings that are popular in San Francisco. These were a bit different. They had way less of a prominent pan fry and were huge to the point that I felt it was too much bread and not nearly enough meat. My dumplings also weren’t fried them same as the pictures in the menu. This is why I gave the Resturant less than five stars. The dumplings were just ok, but it could have just been the Shanghai way of making them which I haven’t had before so it could be my lack of knowledge on the cuisine. The food was very well priced and reasonable. Overall, Dumpling Garden is great and beautiful. Give it a try, it is sure to have something...
