Wow,what a disappointment. I've not been here in awhile and was craving a good Jersey bagel. I'm not sure what's happened but this went in the trash. I noticed the bagels in the bin all looked very light but I was engaged in conversation with the owner. 2 bucks for a bagel,I asked for toasted, light butter, $4 bucks. I even commented,he said butter went up,yes, agreed but not as high as eggs and waffle house is charging.50 cents extra. 2 bucks was even too much for this very raw bagel. Very few sesame seeds and flat like a pancake. It was not toasted and tasted awful. The place was empty at lunch time and look like it has not been cleaned in years. 30 years in business, may be time to hang it up Surely he could not think this is a good bagel. I was just getting out of my car to go back in when 2 customers walked in and I honestly did not want to embarrass him. Then he came out and I got his attention and showed him what I just paid 4 bucks for He was ok with what he sold me,he said the girl didn't toast it enough and that's how he makes them , raw? He offered to replace it, offered a drink or danish,no thanks, what he did not offer was my 4 bucks back. He said he makes them like that because old people can't struggle to bite hard bagels. I've never had hard bagels. He said he wasn't for me,a good bagel is pretty much the same wherever good bagels are sold. He told me to go to Arts or Sonny's. I've been to both, good authentic bagels. I told him I'd been to him before and this was not what I've gotten. He said he works hard and when I said it was a rip off he said no. I handed him my bag with bagel,he took it and as he walked back in the shop he threw it over the fence into the ground....that spoke volumes for the filthy inside. He said he does great, well not...
Read moreI recently visited Hoboken Bread & Bagel Co. and ordered their pastrami sandwich on rye bread with mustard and Swiss cheese, paired with a side of pasta salad. Let me say, this meal exceeded all my expectations!
The pastrami sandwich was phenomenal. After years of searching for an authentic New York deli-style pastrami sandwich in Georgia, I can confidently say this is the real deal. The pastrami was juicy, perfectly seasoned, and had just the right amount of fat for that classic melt-in-your-mouth texture. Thankfully, it wasn’t Boar’s Head, which is sadly used by too many restaurants in Georgia; the quality and flavor of this pastrami was on another level. The rye bread was soft and rich in flavor, the Swiss cheese was beautifully melted by the warmth of the meat, and the tangy deli mustard tied everything together perfectly. It was a harmonious balance of textures and tastes.
The pasta salad was equally impressive. The pasta was stuffed with flavorful cheese, and the dressing was a light yet flavorful balsamic blend that complemented the dish without overpowering it. It was the perfect side to round out the meal.
Beyond the food, the atmosphere was just as memorable. The owner was the heart of the restaurant, bringing warmth and charisma with his quirky and welcoming personality. As I waited for my order, I noticed how he interacted with other customers like they were old friends. I even found myself joining their lively conversation, appreciating the hospitality and sense of community that filled the space.
I’m thrilled to have finally found a go-to spot for authentic pastrami sandwiches in Georgia. Hoboken Bread & Bagel Co. is a must-visit for anyone craving exceptional deli fare and a welcoming, friendly experience. I’ll...
Read moreMade a reference to a restaurant in the area (one with a completely different menu) to another patron in the store. When we went to order we were asked by the owner if we intended on eating or ordering food from them, which of course we answered yes to. The response we received was that if I intended on being served in their establishment or if I intended on them cooking any food for me that I would not say another word about the other restaurant while in the bagel shop or in their presence due to some sort of negative history between the two restaurants. I was told that if I said another world involving the other establishment that I would be told to leave and they would refuse to serve me. The interaction was highly unprofessional and quite surprising to say the least. I certainly don’t know what the negative history is between the two restaurants but I can most certainly say it should not have been announced to us. Two different restaurant with two different menus and due to a simple referral I was told I could leave and eat somewhere else. I used to be a patron of both places, but now I can most assuredly say I will only be a patron of one. We decided to leave and not order anything because we didn’t want to give them our money after the way we were spoken to and they didn’t care that we decided to leave - no apology or explanation. We said we decided not to eat here after all and the response was okay good, goodbye! We have been eating here often since we discovered the place about a month ago, but won’t be giving them our business...
