Mizu Sushi & Asian Fusion — Restaurant in Marlboro Township

Must try sushi and lobster soup!! I started visiting the area a little over a month ago coming to see my amazing girlfriend. We wanted to find some great local sushi for takeout but we didn’t know what exactly to try. She said this place was great eating inside but never had takeout so we should give it a try. The entire process was quick and easy. I put it in the order online. I didn’t have to pay before hand so that made the process even quicker. They said the food would be ready within 35 minutes and they were right. It was available for pickup right at the 35 minute mark. It was a quick process of them printing out the ticket, while I signed the double checked my order then I left. The sushi was absolutely amazing! I had gotten some appetizers as well, the lobster soup and coconut shrimp. Both were great. Especially the lobster soup. I’ll probably start getting 2 servings from now on. This is our go-to sushi place in Marlboro, after trying most of them. We usually order out, but the times we dined in, the place was very clean, lively, spacious, and BYOB. There is a liquor store right next door, in case you want sake/wine. Good for larger groups also, as they can bring a bunch of tables together to accommodate. The staff are very quick and friendly, I think it’s family-run. Make sure you have a reservation on Friday and Saturday night as it gets packed. This brings me to some of the negatives — the wait even for takeout on Friday night is insane: there can be people waiting outside because the foyer is packed, and it’s a bit disorganized. I really wish they addressed this issue somehow because we’ve stopped ordering on Friday nights for this reason. I called to ask if they deliver and was told to use DoorDash, which I did. Placed the order 2.5 hours in advance. However, the dasher had to wait at the restaurant for over 45 minutes because my order was not ready in time. As a result, we got our food 45 min late and the hot dishes were already cold (and it is only a 15 min drive to my house from Mizu). How can the restaurant run that far behind on orders, especially those placed hours in advance??? They clearly cannot be trusted to deliver on time. The food itself was slightly better than the average strip mall sushi joint, but nothing too special. King Salmon sushi, for which I paid $13 for two pieces, was no different than regular salmon and probably was the same exact fish. Toro was also nothing special and overpriced for what I got.
