So the place that used to be here had also been a favourite place, so I was sad to see it go, but I had to give this place a try. I mean, I can never turn down sushi. We made a reservation for my birthday and I'm glad we did, it was packed. It did empty out though near the end. I ordered two things of sushi, some shumai, and dumplings. My dad ordered the wonton for two and I forget what else and my mum ordered a green bean dish and a dish that has chicken, shrimp, beef and vegetables in it. My only issue was my parents got their main courses and I had to wait maybe five more minutes for my sushi. But I'm not saying it's a bad thing, it was busy and I ordered two specialty rolls. My parents made a bigger deal out of it than I did because I know making and rolling sushi takes time. Plus it was busy. For dessert my mum and I ordered the chocolate mousse and my dad ordered the Creme Brule. The chocolate dusting of a fork on the dish was weird, but I found it funny and unique. The desserts were heaven. The wait staff was super nice and the owner is really cool. He came and chatted with us for ten or so minutes. We came back the next week and all our appetizers came out at the same time and all our entrees, including my three orders of sushi, came out at the same time. We went around 5pm for the second dinner and it hadn't gotten packed yet. My only complaint, I got the tea with bubbles and the bubbles were horrible. The tea was also super strong so I had to mix in more water to weaken it. But I also don't like super sweet and strong teas, so the tea might be fine for someone else, but for me...
Read moreFirst and foremost, I recommend this place because the owner is genuinely kind person, as well as, the chefs are on par if not better than those at Sang Kee in Wynnewood. Trust me, I cannot believe that I am saying that; however, it behooves you to dine at New Leaf. The array of dishes will certainly not leave you wanting more nor will you leave with a full and upset stomach. That's the beauty of Asiatic cuisine, for it's not simply rice and meat and veggies. You must be daring and go outside of your comfort zone, but what usually stops us is wondering if the food is "worth it." If you had to try a food unbeknownst to you, would you not feel more at ease knowing that whomever prepared it is adept at what they do?
Also, the first time we came here, there was an issue with the electrical system (another PA Nor'easter); therefore, our food was delayed and kinda left us grumbly. The next time we came, the manager surprised us with an entree and apologized for the inconvenience last time. That is how you run a business and that is how you treat your customers like human beings and keep them coming back....
Read moreI was there last evening with 6 other friends. Every one ordered different dishes and I ordered "Pad Thai". There was a symbol of Red chilli pepper next to the description on the menu. It also described the food stating it will be in a Peanut sauce. I asked for chicken to be added for protein. When the food arrived it was loaded with tomato sauce and no peanut or any taste of peanut. It was also sweet and not spicy. I saw a lot of Tofu bars and no chicken. I asked the waitress about the chicken ,peanut sauce and spiciness of the food. she told me she can bring some peanuts. I questioned how that will mix with the food that is already made. They were indifferent to the customer needs and what it states on the menu is not what you get. In my opinion this will be the last place I WILL EVER TAKE FRIENDS OR FAMILY TO DINE. In my OPINION IT...
