Iām gonna tell yāall a story. Iāll try to keep it as brief as possible. I wasnāt born in United States. Iām was actually born in Jalpan, a small town in the state of QuĆ©retaro. This place is about 10 hours south of the border from McAllen, Texas. I remember when I was a little boy I used to always wonder what United States was like. I remember seeing all the skyscrapers and big cities in movies and just being so amazed, wondering what it would be like to walk around the streets in places like New York. In 2008, my mother and I finally got our United States resident cards(green cards). I remember that day so clearly. My whole family was so excited about this big accomplishment. We got even more excited when my dad asked us if we wanted to come over to Texas and visit a few places that same day. I had never left Mexico and frankly, the thought of being so far from home made me a bit nervous, but I was also extremely excited and eager to visit a new place. We decided that we were gonna walk across the border rather than drive across simply because of the fact that itās easier than having to get several permits to able to drive across the border. We had finally made it across the border through all the security checkpoints at around 2:00PM and keep in mind that we had been up since around 5:00AM that morning. Going through the security checkpoints is a very lengthy process. Therefore, we had built quite an appetite and began asking my dad if we could get something to eat. My father smiled and asked, āDo yāall want some Whataburger?ā We had no idea what Whataburger was. He decided to take us to the Whataburger in 824 S International Blvd. Hidalgo, Texas, which is right across the border. By God that was the best burger I had ever had up to that point in my life. We moved to East Texas in 2009 and started a new life. Fast forward to 2015. Two years after the debut of the famous Monterrey Melt. It was a late night and we were driving home from visiting some relatives in Tennessee. We still had about two hours left of driving until arriving at our home in East Texas. We pulled into a Whataburger to grab something to eat. āTwas the night that I fell in love with the Monterrey Melt. Fast forward to November, 2018. After 10 years of living in United States as a US resident I went through the naturalization process and became a United States citizen. I was happy that day. Had a Monterrey Melt meal to celebrate later that evening. Fast forward to May, 2020. After dealing with some mechanical issues at work on some equipment, I decided that I was going to have a MMM(Monterrey Melt Meal). I thought I knew what a heartbreak felt like...I canāt believe I was so naive and thought I knew real pain. Real pain is when you ask for a Monterrey Melt Meal and you immediately get shot down with eight simple yet hurtful words, āI am sorry. We no longer sell that.ā I didnāt come to this country, learned a second language, went through high school and college and become a United States citizen just for yāall to stop selling the Monterrey Melt Meal. For this reason, I am giving it 3 stars. I hope to one day see the Monterrey Melt Meal back in action. Other than that, great staff, great environment. Everyone is extremely helpful...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently moved to here. This restaurant is great to eat at. Itās kept clean. Itās fast service. Yet there have been times when I go thereās a young lady there that just flat out ignores me. She would attend others but when I stand in her way to get her attention she goes around me. I wasnāt rude, I donāt like to make a scene. Iāll raise my hand as waving to her and nothing. I tried with another and he right away took care of me. It wasnāt like I was asking someone out of the ordinary just wanted to know about how long my order will be. I was about the 3rd person in line yet all 7 orders after me were served. Iām patient. Iām not shy. This young man has help me every time Iāve been there. Heās nice and knows how to be a good customer service rep. No matter how small the job or how stupid the question is he has helped. Iāve seen that young lady again and she has not changed. The manager was there at that time and she sat close by our table just doing something on a computer. I was talking to my husband as to what happened. I said it loud enough for her to hear yet she never got up to talk to that young lady. My husband wanted me to send a letter to the maid office, I just hoped they would take care of it in house. I havenāt dined in a while just gone thru the drive through. At least that young lady is not working the drive thru. When we moved to Texas in the 80ās Whataburger was had been our burger place to go. Thank you for a...
Ā Ā Ā Read more11 months ago I left this review "Clean, wonderful management, friendly service. We had gone to the other whataburger in Marshall and it was awful so we tried this one and the difference between the two was almost night and day. Will always use this whataburger when in Marshall." The bathrooms are still clean and the dine in area is still well maintained BUT seriously, we came in later this evening ordered dine in and received everything in to go bags....had to go to the front and get condiments the girl didn't even try to bring us the tray until I went up front and tried to figure what the rest of our table needed. I CAN DEAL WITH THIS.....so we sit down to eat. I'm dissapointed in the service but hey this whataburger still has the duration of our meal to redeem themselves that was UNTIL I watched two table get their deliveries. SEPERATE tables....the gentleman who delivered the food to the table was called back when one table realized they had the other tables food (had hands all over it) so the employee just swaps one table to the other. SERIOUSLY, THAT IS UNSANITARY!!!!!!! I DO NOT CARE HOW CLEAN YOUR EATERY IS IF YOU GIVE SOMEONE THE WRONG ORDER DONT PASS IT OFF TO SOMEONE ELSE! ITS THE EQUIVALENT TO GETTING YOUR FOOD SPIT IN! COME ON WHATABURGER DO BETTER THAN THIS!!!! SHOULDN'T BE CALLED WHATABURGER more...
