TLDR: This is where you get Pad Thai in this region.
Surprised to find a lot of great options here. First time I heard of this restaurant it was a pretty scathing negative review. Tried it out and found a few things that were good. It was enough to go back and found something for the whole family.
What worked is that they made decent lo mein a staple, and something the kids love. What that turned into is a way to make everyone happy. Kids love the noodles, teenagers like to try a variety in the bento boxes, and the grown ups have a lot of interesting choices.
With different specials every day, it becomes a very affordable family option.
But we have to address something. You are called chopstix. Don't make us ask for chopsticks.
Now that that's out of the way, the sushi is not the best in the area, but still good. There's a lot of good rolls to explore. The Maki does not have the best variety, but there are good things to enjoy, and it is built around the noodles.
The fried rice is about as mediocre as any japanese steak house, so it's hard to complain. You get what you should expect out of hibachi rice.
We've had mixed experiences with the service. Sometimes terrible, but usually really good. Personally, I'm never worried about perfect service since I'm bringing a family of obnoxious kids. I'll give most things a pass.
And finally to get to the thing that they do best. The meat is unexpectedly good. Just starting with the chicken lo mein, it's perfectly tender and marinated for the dish. The hibachi is not perfect, but that doesn't seem to be what they are going for. If you get any kind of braised meat sushi, or the pad thai, then you've found why they cook it they way they do. It works with the flavors, and has a great texture. The general tso's is pretty good too, and may be the best general tso's in town. That's what changes all of the middle of the road things and the oddities of this place and makes it great.
Your first meal for two should be beef pad thai and general tso's. Share and see if it brings you...
Read moreI've been in Chopstix before, the last few experiences were not the best, honestly bad enough to not want to go back, but Wednesday my husband and I went, we were sat on the bar side but with a different server who apparently was not having a good night and did not want to be there, I don't believe she ever mentioned her name, anyway by appearances every table on that side was the bartenders because the girl sitting the tables would look at her and say, "sorry, they requested you" and that was happening every other person being sat so I became interested in why everyone wanted this particular server/bartender, she never got a break but she never stopped smiling and it made us tired just looking at her go. On my way out I asked her what he was schedule was and left. I asked my girlfriend to join me in going Thursday( the bartenders next night, I now know her name is Rosa), we walked in and requested "Rosa". She immediately greeted us with a smile and pleasantries and processed with the order. Both my girlfriend and I told her what we liked and didn't like and she said she make come up with something we both loved. In between making drinks for other servers, grabbing our soups, attending to her other tabels and her job she brought over 2 of the best cocktails we've ever had, she said they were just some receipes she had come up with and to let het know if we didn't like them.(The Wishing Well and Summers End is what she called the cocktails) Most servers don't genuinely care if you do but she did. She worked her tail off the 2 days I was there, her drinks are AMAZING, her customer service is just as amazing. She is the only reason we will be going back again. Chopstix management. You guys have an amazing employee in this girl, her service, skills and personality are hard to find these days, you guys are truly lucky to have her. She's making you money without a doubt. Rosa keep up the wonderful job, I can see why you are so highly requested and...
Read moreThis was a somewhat disappointing experience for me. I stopped here on my way to my hotel based on reviews, but my experience did not match. What many had to say.
My server was exceptional and attentive. She brought their extensive menu very quickly and made some suggestions when I asked her about various items. I usually will start with a pad Thai when I’ve never been at the restaurant before because it tends to be fairly consistent. I also ordered some sushi , a basic Philly roll. Food came out quickly, which concern me because that usually means that at least many of the items are pre-prepared. I suspect this was the case here. They did not offer a tofu option for Pat Thai so I went with the shrimp and it was marginal at best. The noodles were extremely soft and soggy, I was told that it was spicy, but I did not detect a hint of heat. The shrimp was OK, But overall I can’t remember anything exceptional about the dish other than the fact that it was a very large portion that I could barely put a dent into. That was probably a good thing because the sushi was not good. I had one piece and decided that I did not want to risk potentially getting ill as it was not cold and didn’t taste right.
I would not consider returning...
