Today I went in to sell a 14k gold bracelet with diamonds and blue sapphires. When asked if I had a price in mind, I explained that it was a vintage twisted chain, set with real diamonds, and that I hoped it would be purchased as a piece of jewelry, not just for scrap. I mentioned that I already know its retail value is over $2,000, and that the scrap gold value alone (13 grams) is around $600.
After evaluating the bracelet, I was offered only $250. I pointed out that the bracelet is nearly half an ounce of gold, and with gold currently around $3,000 an ounce, that offer was extremely low. I was told, “We go by pennyweight.” My response was: So if I were buying gold, would the price also be based on pennyweight?
I left feeling very disappointed. I came in expecting a fair and professional transaction, not to feel taken advantage of. Being offered less than scrap value for a piece containing both gold and gemstones felt insulting, especially since I trusted this establishment to operate...
Read moreI want to say that there is an awesome team working in this jewelry store. They are all very friendly and very knowledgeable. I want to shout out to Danielle . First time I walked in she was right on spot to help me. I had looked for a new wedding set for our 40th anniversary. She was a blessing. She worked with me for I know 2 hours until I found what I wanted. She never ever lost patience with me. I looked at them all and we finally found the diamond I wanted but she went through every band to match it and could not find in the store. So she contacted the manufacturer of the diamond to see if they had a band. They did thank goodness. She went way out of her way to help me and I was so appreciative. Very patient. Then was looking for a sapphire and she again went through them all. Got very lucky that day cause Nikki heard us and came out with a Montana sapphire that she had just got. It was beautiful. So purchased it. Kuddos to Danielle. You definitely have a gem in her. Thanks to...
Read moreI had a terrible experience at Eden Jewelry in Martinsville, VA. I’ve been a loyal customer for years — both my husband and I have purchased several items from this store over time. Recently, they called me in regarding a warranty, and when I arrived, no one greeted me or said a word. I wasn’t the only customer in the store, but when I walked in, not one employee acknowledged me at all.
I stood at the counter and still received no assistance. Meanwhile, another customer asked an associate if something would match her necklace, and instead of simply responding, the employee looked at her and coldly said, “Someone will be with you shortly.” It came off as rude and unprofessional.
It’s upsetting to be treated like this at a place that has received our business for years. I felt dismissed and unwelcome. From now on, I’ll take my business elsewhere. I do not recommend this...
