Charging $10 for a side of hummus this size is straight up extortion, not only is this restaurant in an incredibly sketchy area, but they go out of their way to rob you even if you are an honest customer.
At Applebee's you can get an entire 1/3 pound bacon-cheeseburger, fries, and a drink for ten bucks - charging that same price for fifty-cents of chickpeas thrown in a food-processor is wildly unethical and totally absurd.
I've been getting carry-out here for about six years and telling everyone who visits about your Greek food, but never again it's not worth the trouble - and not worth being gouged.
Whatever you do, don't come to this restaurant, there are lots of other Greek restaurants closer to 270 that have quality Mediterranean food and don't extort their customers.
So below the owner claims to be charging "market price" for chickpeas - this is manipulative nonsense. Chickpeas don't have a market price, they're an abundant crop grown basically everywhere on earth - not a lobster, there aren't any fluctuations in the price of chickpeas like there are with premium ingredients.
At Target, which charges more than a wholesale restaurant store, an entire pound is less than a buck.
The serving I was given didn't have close to pound of chickpeas in it, the owner of this establishment must think his customers are too stupid to know that hummus is just chickpeas, some olive oil, and a bit of tahini and garlic, maybe some lemon to taste.
Everything is put in a food-processor, it's not ground-down in a mortar and pestle like a freaking mole with 30 ingredients that takes 12 hours.
Given your reaction, I'd guess none of your meats are made from scratch, you're just opening bags from Sysco and then scalping customers who don't...

Using my phone, I looked up Athens Grill and clicked "menu" to see what we wanted to order and look up the prices. Once we decided I went on the actual site and noticed the prices were higher then the menu link but ordered anyway, fully expecting they were the right price.
When my daughter picked up the order, it was significantly more that expected. When she questioned it, the owner said the prices online aren't correct and hidden behind a plant was the notice that using a credit card was an additional 4%.
The only reason we ordered was to support local small businesses during the pandemic and in this case I felt taken advantage of. I'm a business owner and pay the credit card fees and I've never seen one of 3% so he's overcharging there.
At this time, there are at least 3 menus and 3 different prices-two online and one in the store. I didn't see anything online about the 4% fee and feel it's the owner's responsibility to make that clear through every method.
Here is an example of the different prices for one item. The store price was $18.99 and I did not see the 4% charge for credit card payments.
This is from the menu on their website LAMB KABOB PLATTER (1/2 LB.) Marinated fresh cubes of lamb served with Greek salad, french fries or rice pilaf and pita bread $18.49

Read moreBeen coming here for a while they have great gyros BUT I recently ordered here and for some reason when I came to pickup the food they completely messed up my order and wanted me to pay $23 to get the food that I did order that costs $11... So some how I ended up being charged $14 for a salad and fries that I didn't order but that's what they gave me and I drive home and find that even the salad they gave me wasn't authentic Greek salad (not supposed to have lettuce in a Greek salad) so I go back to clear it up and he tells me I'm not gonna get the gyro even tho that's what I paid for I don't wanna say it's racism but I'm pretty sure if I didn't have color on my skin he would have been more happy to help me because what I went thru for jus a gyro and fries was ridiculous. He also got his greesy cooks to come up front and stare at me to intimidate me to leave because I didn't want to pay for something I didn't ask for. If my white girlfriend walked in their would have been no issue to change a non-authentic Greek salad to a simple gyro but no I would have to get intimidated into paying $23 for that .... A bit disappointed but the food is amazing if u can put...
