Visited this place on a whim. I made a reservation while sitting in my car looking at their website, I requested the "lounge" for dinner which is upstairs with a nice, spacious bar, a large section oriented to the stage where a jazz guitarist was playing a relaxing set and a smaller section created by shelving with wine bottles on them. Thankfully, the music was not too loud. We watched the sun setting to the west with a beautiful view of the river from the front wall of the building with huge, beautiful windows. The vaulted ceiling, gentle glow of the bar lighting and relaxed atmosphere was perfect. We had some local oysters ($2/each) - a good, standard preparation for raw with minionette and the prosciutto wrapped figs ($12) with roasted pecans and honey - delicious, stuffed with goat cheese. I had the maple walnut salmon ($24) which was honestly one of the best pieces of salmon I've had in a good while. It was perfectly cooked with a maple glaze and the most devine roasted walnuts with a little bit of glaze on them. The rice pilaf and green beans were nice but the salmon that just melted in your mouth with that beautiful hint of sweet from the maple glaze and those crunchy roasted walnuts were the real star. My husband had the rockfish with panko ($26) with rice pilaf and carrots, he found the rockfish a shade overcooked but overall good. Our server recommended the red velvet cake since they had just run out of the Smith Island cake. As reported, the red velvet cake was not overly sweet but satisfying. The staff all seemed genuine, gracious and not at all stuffy. Come for the excellent food, stay for the beautiful sunset and entertainment. I feel that the price was right for the quality of food and service. This is exactly...
Read moreThe food was so good and our server was friendly. We ate there on June 14th, around 4ish and I can't remember who our server was but she was saying how the bad made everything fresh, even the cherry juice. So as a special treat we ordered our daughters Shirley temples. She said we could choose between fresh juice and grenadine. I said fresh juice. If you know anything about fresh ingredients vs the fake stuff you know that fresh usually means duller more natural colors. When she brought the drinks back, they were BRIGHT red, like flourscent color of grenadine. So I confirmed and she said "yes we got it from the bar". my daughter is allergic to red40 so we confirmed several times. the vibe was weird when I asked though and maybe I should've mentioned the allergy to be taken seriously. but I didn't trust the drink so I tasted it. sure enough, unnatural grenadine taste. my daughter had a few drinks of it before I tasted It however, after the servers reassurance. and bc we Make cherry syrup fresh at home she knew it didn't taste right. thankfully the allergy is not anaphylactic, just causes some rash and behavior issues. but PLEASE don't try to hide using the processed stuff just for the restaurants reputation to serving "only fresh...
Read moreDrawn in by the sidewalk sign promising Coffee Shop, we loved the view and coffee. Baked goods were disappointing—puzzling due to full kitchen and reports of excellent food otherwise. 5-6 bakery choices were listed but not on display. At least 2 (lemon pound cake and black/white cookies) came prepackaged in plastic similar to items found in 7-11’s. The cranberry scone looked homemade, but was doughy and soft without the pleasant crunchiness of a delicious fresh homemade scone. I’d seen Bugeye’s weekend coffee cafe advertised on FB and really looked forward to going beyond the baked goods offered locally at Dunkin, Starbucks, and grocery stores. We have been looking between Prince Frederick and Hollywood/Lexington Park for a focus on real baked goods…there is a huge lack which your kitchen could fill. Nicolletti’s a bit further south has a selection of in-house baked items which is marvelous and makes great use of their ovens, yet aren’t even advertised as part of their online presence. Bugeye’s does advertise a Coffee Shop atmosphere, has an excellent view and the kitchen to make it happen. One motivated person could make all the difference! Hope it happens, because this...
