As of today, we had straight slop and it wasn't great. I got a Banana Split, kids vanilla with sprinkles and a Pralines and cream with caramel. The young lady who took my order seemed very rushed. There were 3 employeea and there were 3 customers. She did the Praline ice cream first and when the hot caramel hit ice cream, I could tell this may end bad. The containers are so thin, nothing was going to stay cold. She left it out on the counter and did the banana split. I asked for traditional ice cream but wanted to change the toppings. She asked what topping I was going to get and I said chocolate syrup, caramel, wet nuts, dry nuts and strawberries. Well, I wanted the syrups on different ice creams and she put the hot fudge and caramel all over the thing. They went to close it and i asked about the nuts? The put wet nuts on the whole thing, whip cream and cherries. It was so melted all ready and on the counter it sat. Then she did the kids cup. It all went into a bag and I could feel the bag just was not cold bit I figured, I live right across the way, I'll have it in the freezer in 4 minutes. We'll it was so melted, all of the ice creams sat in the freezer for 20 minutes and it didn't help. It was disgusting. I should have spoke up and or canceled the order. The Praline ice cream went in the trash. The kids ice cream went in a cup to kind-of drink it and I just ate the banana and nuts out of mine.
A year ago at 5 Stars: This is the cutest little shop. The owner is as sweet as his ice cream. The staff is always happy and ready to help. The ice cream is so good and always fresh. Homemade there in the store. This one night, after Super Bowl, we really wanted some ice cream. We thought they closed a little later so when we called the young lady said we had 10 minutes until closing. We live across the street but she offered to take our order over the phone and let us pay for it. This way ot would be ready for us and not hold them up. We quickly obliged and hurried over. She had it sitting on the counter ready to go. It's those kinds of acts that have us keep...
Read moreWhy why why have I put off trying this place for so long? It is in one of the most annoying parking lots in Pasadena (small and always full, prepare to drive around waiting for someone to leave), but I have walked by the store many times when getting dry-cleaning or picking up wings at Wingman or getting a local beer at Hysteria. Well, I have been missing out - we finally stopped by (got the last parking spot) and went in to find a very clean and cutely decorated local ice cream shop, full of pride with all their locally made flavors (probably 30+ available today), frozen cookies/waffles/ cones, and lots of cakes. Not just your normal standard flavors that everyone has either, but some unique and fun creations we have never seen (ex. Blueberry Pound Cake, Maple Chocolate Chip). They also have a wall of probably 40+ other flavors that they have made in the past and can be made again with 3-4 days advance notice, talk about customer service!! For the flavors that lend towards mix-ins (ex. cookies), they have abundant and delicious additions and not just minor accents. The staff were friendly and offered tastes and served up generous servings. Prices are very similar to other local scoop shops like Bruster's. Other than the parking lot, the only down side is that due to the strip mall location, they only have 2 small bench seats outside (and nothing inside) for eating your purchases. Overall, our group of 4 was thrilled with our options and the high quality of our selections and will definitely be back. Give...
Read moreI never thought this day would come that I would have to write a negative review about this place but if the customers don’t speak up there is no hope for the possibility to get back what we used to have. Since the new owners took over this place has consistently gone down hill. The first thing I noticed was their scoops were smaller. I could deal with that, just order more, easy fix. But I can not deal with the lower quality of their product. The ice cream is much less flavorful, it’s not as creamy and the additions to the flavors are far less in quantity and quality than before. The cookie dough ice cream has chunks of what remind me of chalk as in the flavor and texture. But tonight really put the nail in the coffin. The waffle cones have changed and not for the better. I visit less and less now. Each time it’s like I forget about the bad experience only to be...
