Don Pollo of Glenmont — Restaurant in Maryland

-----UPDATE TO THE UPDATE----- Spoke to an employee and asked about the "mandatory" tip. Employee said there's not one and offered to re-do my order without tip, which was nice but I declined. Employee stated that the person that took my order on the phone was new and did not know that it is optional.

Issue is, I still had to go ask. If this had happened to someone else who didn't go ask, the restaurant would have just taken the 15%.

How about this, policy should be to just don't even offer the customer the option to tip for a take out order. Is take out. There is no reason to ask for a tip for a service that is not rendered.

----- UPDATE ------ I ordered on the phone today and they now have a 15% mandatory minimum tip. For take out. Not much else to say. Sad.

I go to Don Pollo for the Pollo, arroz chaufa, yucca, beans, and veggies. I've also had their Lomo Saltado and it is delicious. I can't speak for anything else they have on the menu since I don't like to venture into the unknown. I like the usuals.

Service is usually good. Having worked on a restaurant before I usually extend a bit of grace when people are having a bad day.

The only bad thing is not the restaurant but the Glenmont Shopping Center in general. It's in such bad condition. And sketchy at night. But don't let the looks of everything around this place put you off.

I can't complain anything about their rotisserie chicken, it was nice flavor. The portion and price was ok. Don Pollo of Glenmont, it is located in Glenmont Shopping Center, where is quite old plaza in this area. If you look from outside, you might feel worry the condition of the restaurant but I was surprised a little when I got inside, their dining room is spacious, clean, and comfortable. Also a plenty of free outdoor parking lot is available.

Anyway, the reason why I didn't give them 5 stars because this was my first time to try them and I got the wrong item right away! Even worse the one they gave me wrong I don't like it at all. (if something that I can eat, that might be fine)

p.s. I ordered 1/4 dark chicken with 2 sides - mac&cheese/plaintain but I got salad instead of mac&cheese. Salad is never my favorite, so I had to trash it.

p.s. I ordered for pick up via UbeEat app. After this happened, I let the app. know about my issue and they refunded me for only the wrong item....

I always come here for my lunch break the food is so good but unfortunately today was not a great service I ordered the Lomo saltado +add shrimp for $8 I got back to work and noticed there was no shrimp on my plate so I asked if they could remake my meal because I already drove 30 minutes there and back with the food in my car the cashier said okay as I’m waiting I noticed the person making my food was only cooking shrimp. One of the shrimps fell and she picked the shrimp up with her hands and tossed it in the bowl and tried to serve it to me at this point I was disgusted and asked for a refund it’s upsetting because the food is really good here but seeing poor hygiene with just the shrimp imagine what else they...
