Shortly after 6pm on a weeknight at Fisherman’s Crab Deck I put my name on the waiting list for an outside table. My husband and I sat at the bar for a beer, taking advantage of the Happy Hour pricing during our short wait. We were seated promptly on the deck, next to the water, with families of ducks and the occasional small jellyfish floating past. Our friendly and efficient server was Isabel-- and she lifted this review from 2 to 3 stars. So far, so good until I looked around. The restaurant is a vast neutral space with rows of picnic tables and gave me the impression of a warehouse for food. My husband said he’d thought of a college cafeteria. So diners must flock here for the food, it’s certainly not for the charm. Sadly, our meal did not live up to our “4.5 on Google” expectations from the start. The Top Deck Margarita ($15) came without the advertised Grand Marnier floater. There was no color difference in my drink, and a sip confirmed its absence. My Crabcake Salad ($26) was topped with a modest sized crab cake sitting on Romaine lettuce, with a few cucumber slices and tomato pieces. Adding carrots, radishes, corn, avocado, and making a more robust salad would make that price more palatable. Delivered as it was, it was <$3 in veggies. I had a side order of fries, and it was also a meager serving. At $4 it almost makes one wonder what it costs per fry -- and I resisted the urge to count them, but it appeared to be about 15 french fries. My husband’s Chicken Chesapeake ($33) was also lackluster. He said the chicken was overcooked and tough, and the crab imperial had an overpowering flavor of old oil. His dish was accompanied by delicious potatoes and a tangy cole slaw, and those were the stars of the meal. To recap, the veggies were the standouts of a mediocre meal with a water view. We might be more demanding than their target dinner audience but expect good value, which includes tasty food at an elevated price point. If you're looking for a place with great views of the Bay to eat good seafood and other signature Maryland specialties, move along, this isn't it.

Ordinarily, I have gone to this place countless times. The bartenders are usually friendly and attentive. Typically, your food comes up quickly and I am generally happy with the service. Last night, it was terrible. After a hard days work, I went to the restaurant and sat at the bar. The Bartender greeted us and it seemed like a normal time there. At that time there were about four other people at the bar. She took our drink order and immediately brought it to us. That was the last time she ever even looked in our direction. She went to every other group at the bar and was very attentive. She returned to them repeatedly to see if they needed anything and never even spoke or looked at me and my friend again. Another bartender joined her and we had to call him over for our food order. I also asked for a drink I never received. We sat for a half hour and continually watched as different people at the bar and bar area got their food when their order was place after ours. They had a mixture of hot and cold food and still nothing for us. When Our food finally came a 45 mins later, my steam clams were cold and dry and my raw clams were warm. My friend ordered hush puppies and steamed shrimp that were cold. When we pointed it out to the bartender he blamed it on the kitchen, but doubtful that you can blame food that sat too long after being prepared on the kitchen.

Now the kicker is these same two bartenders use to be very attentive but on last night pay no attention to us. I hate to play the race card but as the only two black people in the bar area watching all the white patron get serviced and attention, I cannot help but to wonder if we would have gotten better service if we were lighter. We got up and went to the Narrows Restaurant who gave us much better service and were...

I have been coming here for years. Service has been wonderful every time. I’m not sure what the problem was this time all I asked for was the domestic price for six in a bucket vice versa just ordering one at a time I was waiting for her to answer for some reason, she turned around and said you do not have to talk to me like I asked a question. I was being very polite. I even asked the table I was sitting with if I was being rude. Nothing was wrong. She continued to carry on and attitude, she came back with an attitude, rolling her eyes and giving a dirty look to the whole entire table. She brought me my Coors light back. I asked her politely if she’d mind opening it in front of me because it came open already she took the beer back and then a nice gentleman came and asked what the problem was and I addressed what the issue was and that’s when Miss Valerie came she continued as we ate the whole time, talking about the situation to other servers she also she kept staring at me and talking with her friends makes me very uncomfortable, especially when you’re coming to a place and spending $300 on a bill. no thank you I will not be coming back, but we ended up having a wonderful server thank you Miss Valerie😊😊for taking over and coming to apologize for a situation that should’ve never happened in the first place Valerie came and took care of the table and she’s absolutely wonderful thank you Valerie , I wish that new servers will leave their attitudes at home and don’t bring it to a workplace. I am in customer service. I own my own truck and excavation company and when it comes to a place where you are selling to customers and attitude is not...
