My wife and I have eaten here three or four times. Nearly every time the food was average at best. Portion sizes are decent however overall flavor is bland. Service is usually subpar as well. In all honesty there are many restaurants that are far superior than frix's on Kent Island. I really wouldn't waste your money here unless of course you're going for the burger. That is the one dish on the menu that is decent.
----- in respose to owner ----- Thanks for the response. The last time we dined there my wife had the swordfish I had the filet mignon. After waiting 30 minutes both dishes came out overcooked and lacked basic seasoning, yet were luke warm to the touch. The restaurant was quite busy, so maybe the kitchen was overwhelmed that night? Either way it was genuinely disappointing as we had also heard such great fanfare about your restaurant, but each time we went we had a similar experience...bland food, slow service. I did enjoy the burger during the happy hour because everyone I had spoken with said it was good, but i didnt like waiting 15 minutes for a simple drink. We are not looking for Michelin level quality out of any restaurant we dine at, but we do eat out quite often and find other restaurants such as Annie's, The Narrows, and Knoxies in the area just have better food and service for the same price. We were not looking for any recompense, but rather just sharing our experience at your restaurant and I'm sorry it wasn't a great...
Read moreFrix's Fire Grill has options for everyone! They have a gluten free menu, kids menu, and something to choose for everyone. We were a party of three and ordered the beef stroganoff, the gluten-free shrimp coconut cream entree and three appetisers. The starters we ordered were Cesta de Pão de Queijo, the Abacate Marajá, and the Cheeseburger Pastel Baskets. The Cesta de Pão is a savoury cheese bread that came with a ham pate which was absolutely delicious. The Cheeseburger Pastel Baskets are perfect for any picky eater. They are similar to empeñadas, and they were filled with flavourful ground beef and a light American cheese sauce. The Abacate Marajá was a big crowd pleaser; stuffed avocado shells with extremely flavourful shrimp and a filling similar to guacamole, but even better. The beef stroganoff was a large portion of beef, mushrooms, and a creamy flavourful sauce served with white rice. The shrimp entree (which was off the gluten free menu) had a medium spice level but the mango rice balances the heat nicely. Everything we ordered was finished COMPLETELY and we had no complaints! The service is lovely and knows the menu information and the tables were spaced out nicely because of covid. The dining space and bar is separated which is nice if you don't want to hear the tv noice in the background. A NEW favorite in our family! Highly...
Read moreWe visited Frix’s on Tuesday, right before dinner began for the evening. What an awesome gem! The restaurant itself felt upscale and clean, and the entrees we ordered were delicious. We’ve had a hard time finding a steakhouse with actual steak on the children’s menu, so this was a real treat for our daughter. Our first waitress had short brown hair and she didn’t really do a great job at checking on us. We sat without a drink refill for about 30 minutes until a new blonde waitress took over, and promptly took care of us. She was great. The creme brûlée I’d ordered for dessert didn’t have that iconic hard torched top so that was disappointing, but overall the food was excellent. After we paid our bill, I noticed that the first waitress charged us for a Michelob Ultra even though we didn’t order any alcohol. I don’t usually check the itemized receipt but I was curious about how much the desserts were since it was a verbal menu. We didn’t bother going through a refund process because we didn’t want to risk having $300 pending for several days until everything cleared correctly, versus the $150 that our check totaled...
