Hunan Express — Restaurant in Maryland

This has been my go-to restaurant for fast, tasty Chinese food for years! I'm by no means an expert on the cuisine, but the orange/Gen Tso's chicken have always been delicious, the included white rice full of sticky goodness, and the fried rice dishes great. My orders have always been prepared quickly and accurately, whether phoned in or placed in person. And the dinner portions are HUGE, particularly for the price--a single entree can easily feed two hungry people, or be stashed in the fridge for the next day.

As far as the customer service goes, this was several years ago but I haven't seen much (any?) changeover in the staff. Driving home from a (very) late night at work, I decided to chance trying to order just 10 minutes before the restaurant closes...not only did they cheerfully take my order, but when I dashed into the store 12 minutes later (could not catch a break with traffic!), my order was freshly bagged and waiting for me, and my apologies for keeping them late were met only with a genuine smile. As a person who knows first-hand what a hassle restaurant clean-up can be at the end of a night, even without last-minute orders, I cannot overstate how much that...

This was some of the worst chinese food Ive had in a while. Elkridge must be oblivious to good chinese food because the reviews led me to believe that this is some of the best. Ordered hunan shrimp lunch special. The rice is so bland and dry I couldnt continue eating it. Found 1 pea and 1 carrot in the entire rice. The shrimp were all different sizes. Some were tiny while the biggest were small at best and they did not have a fresh taste. Like they were frozen for too long. Its a shame when the store is right next to a supermarket.The flavor of this dish was so lacking. The sauce tastes like corn syrup with red pepper flakes. The egg roll was mushy. They need to rethink putting the egg roll in the lunch container. It would also help if they specified the egg roll has meat in it. Not a pleasant surprise. Its really sad when the only thing you want to eat is the broccoli. Oh and the lady at the front counter was stingy with the sauces. Seems like this place is trying to cut costs everywhere. Wish I could get my money back since this lunch went directly...

This is THE WORST FOOD I HAVE EVER EATEN IN MY LIFE!!!!! $60+ FOR TASTELESS VEGETABLES AND RICE!!!!!! I AM SO MAD. The Lo Mein is nothing but soggy mush. The Fried Rice tastes like it's been sitting in my fridge just out in the open for days. The Chicken with Broccoli is NOTHING BUT BROCCOLI. Over 3 lbs of broccoli!!!!! $20 of broccoli!!!! MINISCULE PIECES OF TINY PIECES OF SCRAP CHICKEN. Again, NO FLAVOR. And the general General Tso's Chicken is also abysmal!!! Again, like it's been sitting out for days! Tastes like a nugget drenched in sweet sauce and it is the toughest chicken I have ever had in my life!!! DO NOT EVER ORDER FROM HERE.
