So, we don’t talk about Bruno… but we NEED to talk about Jimmy’s Grille. This is 4 Corner’s newest little gem. Nestled in the shadow of the old Roma’s Pizzeria, Jimmy’s Grille is the perfect spot for a quick, filling lunch or dinner during your busy day. As I walked in I was greeted by Emily, who was also my cashier. The menu is perfect, offering choices ranging from the classic burger and fries to scrumptious Mediterranean delights. You can always watch George tossing a handmade pizza base while you’re perusing the menu. He’s guaranteed to throw you a smile. I ordered the classic burger and some fries in gravy with a tall glass of Southern Sweet Iced Tea. That tea would do my southern ancestors proud. Perfectly brewed and chilled to a dream. Caesar made my burger from a fresh all-beef patty, added cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, and ketchup before nestling it into the softest, flakiest, lightly toasted brioche bun I’ve every had, and he walked it to my table, personally. I felt like royalty. That first bite had me rolling my eyes back into my head in sheer delight! The fries were crispy, but soft in the middle and smothered in the perfect amount of beef gravy. I thoroughly enjoyed stuffing my face with them while side eying the assortment of desserts in the refrigerated case. That key lime pie has a definite place in my near future…

Stopped in for lunch today, had not been inside since Roma’s vacated these premises. There’s a hand-lettered signboard outside with the Daily Specials. Inside, the setup has not changed with the new owners: open kitchen behind the high counter on the right and a row of about 6 tables on the left. A sign on the counter advised that prices are higher than those on their printed menus. AMBIENCE: It’s modest, expect nothing more than a fresh coat of paint paired with tinny Greek music. SERVICE: Very friendly, warm and welcoming. FOOD: Everything is made to order, so have patience. I had the steak sub and it was delicious, good quality steak on pillowy bread. That was one of today’s Specials with French Fries, and the fries were perfection. My husband had the Gyro and was happy with it. We also ordered 2 Greek pizzas since today was also “buy one get one free” DRINK: No liquor license, so BYOB if that’s important to you. We’ve been very pleased with carry-out from Jimmy’s and have also enjoyed their party trays; their Pastitsio is terrific. Their slogan is: “Once a week, go Greek” and it’s good advice.

I stumbled across a classic hidden gem out in Phoenix, Maryland! Remember the old ACROPOLIS RESTAURANT on Eastern Ave. in Baltimore City? Well this is the 2.0 version his family opened up in his name… Jimmy’s Grille 🇬🇷 and let me just say the food is OFF THE HOOK! Spanakopita w/ homemade tzatziki… soooo crunchy! Lamb Gyro 🥙 OUT OF THIS WORLD, very fresh. I’ll be back! “If you ever come into Jimmy’s Grille looking for Jimmy, you won’t be able to talk to him, but he’s definitely here. Jimmy owned and ran the Acropolis restaurant in Baltimore for over thirty years with his family. Jimmy’s Grille is an homage to Jimmy, the legend, who taught his son George everything he knew for the numerous years they worked as a team in the kitchen.”Dimitrios (Jimmy) Avgerinos October 1945 - September 2019

We were super excited to try Jimmy's as we know this space has undergone several changes in ownership over the last couple of years.

First, the food. Fantastic Greek food, true to form. The Greek salad was massive with all the proper ingredients. We loved the option to get authentic Greek feta cheese, which was delicious. The Greek dressing had real feta cheese in it as well, and plenty of herbs. Gyro platter is a bargain with plenty of real medium rare lamb, a good side salad, tzatziki sauce with cucumber and thick cream, and a side. Greek french fries were well seasoned with good blend of pepper and other spices. My only complaint is that I wish we had more pita bread for the massive amount of tzatziki sauce that's included in the portion.

Second, the service. Fantastic. We did take out and while we were told 15 to 20 minutes, it was ready in 12. Super friendly girl working front of house and you can see the chefs really giving it their all on the grill. In these days of people complain about having to tip for takeout, I was more than happy to tip. They were really hustling.

Third, atmosphere. Knowing the history of this property and how it used to be a pretty greasy, run down 70s style bar food establishment, I was actually pretty happy with what they've done with the limited space they have. The stainless steel decor and nice stainless appliances were all super clean. Tables were clean and well organized. All cutlery and condiments were fresh and new. The space is limiting, but this is a space more geared toward takeout and delivery over dine-in.

And we will be doing a lot more take out and delivery as a result. Great food and great service at a great price.

Strapasta and Brookside... look over your shoulder. Jimmy's is...
