I’ve been a loyal customer of La Familia Bakery in Beltsville for years, always getting birthday cakes for family celebrations, but my recent experience has left me extremely disappointed. I bought a tres leches cake, expecting the usual moist, flavorful dessert, but instead, it was drier than a pound cake. I went back to the bakery to give them a chance to make it right. Unfortunately, instead of offering an apology, and taking notes to avoid same in future they just made excuses, claiming the baker said the cakes were fine. Not once did they acknowledge the issue or —they just tried to down play my concerns. No one took note of the fact that I have bought cakes there several times and have never complained. This kind of customer service is unacceptable. I won’t be returning. They treat you like a transaction and not a customer. The coffee liquid was uneven on the next two sponge layers which caused a dip and to even out the top more of the cream frosting was used to fill it in. If I could figure out how to post a photo, I would. I had thought about going to the bakery just to kindly mention it and show them the picture I took of it cut open, but some of the reviews lead me to think that staff probably wouldn’t care. This review is NOT to deter anyone from trying this bakery. Maybe get something other than...
Read moreI recently came here to purchase one of the personal tres leches cake. When I first walked in the cashier looked at me, however, was assisting a customer, and there was another woman in the back picking out bread.
The cashier proceeds to go to the back to check on the status of the customer order and when she returned, let the customer know that the order wasn’t ready and so he left. I turned My head towards the window to see where my car was parked, and instead of the cashier assisting me next, she proceeds to assist the other customer who was picking out bread prior to me walking in… so I left. I would hate to think that race was a factor however it’s standard procedure to help the next individual in line. I didn’t feel welcomed will never return...
