Well I'm sure that I will not be popular with this review and I fully expect a defensive response from Lib's for this review. However, I paid all charges, our party was very polite for the entire visit, and never once was I angry or in any way "out of hand" with the staff or manager. With that out of the way, let's get to it. The good: I had reservations for 6 of us, the reservations honored, the wait staff was fantastic, especially our server Chris. The restaurant was designed and decorated very well and the overall look was very pleasant. The bad: The noise was insane, the food was simply awful, and the prices ridiculous. Our table of 6 had many different dishes, including salads, salmon, crab cakes, other entrees and oysters. Everything was overpriced, and again, simply awful. I've been dining at Liberatore's in Timonium for decades, and the Bel Air location for at least 10 years. The food (and prices) have always been very good. So I naturally expected the same from Lib's, but sadly this was not the case. The last thing was the deceitful charge placed on my bill for "rocks" in my 2 drinks. Yes, that would appear to be a $5.00 charge for ice! Alas, it's even worse. When I asked the general manager (Adam) about the charge, he told me in a very polite and professional way that it was a charge for a "heavy pour" on my 2 drinks, not for ice. By the way, when I had ordered my drinks "on the rocks", I did not specify that they be "doubles" and the $8.00 charge each for those drinks was very much inline with other establishments in the Bel Air area, and they were not doubles nor especially heavy pours (note the attached pick where both the receipt from Lib's and a receipt from another fine restaurant in Bel Air are shown side-by-side). Based on the experience my party and I will not be returning to Lib's Grill in Bel Air. I've posted this review for others to know about what we experienced and hopefully for the folks at Lib's to make things better for...
Read moreI would like to start by saying we have been to this location several times and the Perry Hall location. We enjoy coming to Libs Grill and the food is also great. However we went last night and the service was not so great. We started our experience good and ordered drinks. Our waitress came back and took our appetizer order for crab dip. The crab dip came out and had a bad taste and smell to it like rotten fish and didn't want to risk eating it. We sent it back due to this reason. Our waitress after taking it back never came back to our table for the rest of the dinner. She never asked us if we wanted to try another appetizer and a different waitress came to take our food order. When we got our food we did not have a steak knife and luckily the food runner was able to get us one. Our waitress never came to our table to ask us if we needed anything but she did stop at the table beside us 3-4 times. Every time she stopped at the table beside us she would just walk past us. We were thinking about staying a little longer and getting another drink but our waitress never returned. She did return to the table beside us and I was able to stop her when she was walking past us again and ask for the check. She took my credit card and check and didn't return. Another waitress returned with the check. It was a strange experience to say the least. I felt like she was intentionally ignoring us and the only reason I can think of is because we sent back the crab dip because we didn't want to get sick. We were able to speak with the manager after this experience and voiced that we were disappointed with the service and not sure if we are going to return in the future. The manager was very nice and understood our frustration with the entire night. We were there to celebrate good news we got and left dinner just disappointed we didn't choose a different...
Read moreSorry, there’s no pictures of the wonderful food, It was so scrumptious looking we had to dive in before we even thought about taking pictures. It did not disappoint! The themed brunch for “ grease and glamour” was a cool idea and we really enjoyed it. Hopefully they will do more of these and we will definitely be there. It would be nice if the Perry Hall location tried these as well as that location is closer to us and we visit that one more often.
Our server, Julia was very attentive and catered to our every whim when it came to dietary restrictions and the many questions about the menu and the themed brunch options.
A few of the managers were on site and explained the whole themed brunch concept to us. We were quite intrigued by it and can’t wait to attend more. I don’t remember everyone’s name but everyone from the bartenders to the people working the hostess desk to the managers who checked in on us were top-notch.
Vinny, who we also met once at the Perry Hall, location, was very gracious and invested in making sure the guest experience was a memorable one, he explained the review process to us and provided us with easy to use cards to scan in order to submit reviews.
Now to the good part, the food I can’t say enough; again blown away. We both tried options that are not things we commonly order when dining out. I ordered the rockfish Benny and found it to be the perfect portion size tasty and a unique and flavorful combination. My sister-in-law ordered the crab and asparagus egg white omelette; this delightful and unique combination of flavors was something you’d expect from a Michelin star restaurant.
It’s hard to think of any areas for improvement. My only constructive criticism would be that the social media presence/notification of the special events be publicized more widely as we found out about this quite...
