(4.5 stars, but that's not an option). The other pizza restaurant I was going to wasn't available, so I took a chance and came here for the first time (I live 45 mins away), and glad I did.
The staff seemed a bit unhappy, disgruntled, and I was trepidatious about staying, but glad I did! Once I got talking with them, they warmed up a bit, guess just overworked on a Friday night with "post-Covid economy". Good people, I just think it was a bad day. So please, future customers, be patient, the food is what's important, if you want social interaction, go to a church or bar!
The fried pickles were fine, not remarkable, not bad, they're fried pickles, but the marinara was top notch! Nice and rich, subtle hints of green pepper, onions and seasoned just right, just great flavor. The sauce made the whole appetizer 5 stars.
The garden salad was a good value for $5.99, the ingredients were fresh (no bagged lettuce flavor), it's a basic salad, but it just works. Enough tomatoes, onions, cucumbers for the amount of lettuce (no single cherry tomato and a random slice of cucumber), and the herbal Italian dressing was flavorful and tangy, it was perfect compliment to the crispness of the salad.
The pizza toppings (chicken, sweet peppers and onions) were top quality, seasoned chicken was tender, and generously topped the pizza. Don't get me wrong, the pizza was good, but probably this least favorite of things I tried. The sauce was unremarkable, not bad, just no flavor (surprising since the marinara seems to have a lot of care put into it, why the pizza sauce is so basic). The dough is soft. Some people make love that, but it was too soft for me (again it's fine, just not great). I prefer crust that has a nice flavorful crisp to the outside and soft in side. If I had to to guess, this is cooked in a gas oven. If they had the money to invest in a wood-fired oven, or at least a brick oven, and cooked pizza at 700f versus the probably 450f temperature, I think the dough would cook up to a much nicer crust.
Also note, I'm allergic to cheese, so you can't 100% take my opinion of the pizza and judge. I'm sure anything is good with enough greasy melted cheese on it, and you might not care about the crust sauce, just the cheese and toppings. Just I notice these things because all 3 components have to stand out when you get a pizza cheese-less.
Also was happy they offer Coke Zero as a drink option (Diet Coke is bitter, but most places only offer 1 diet drink option). Plenty of napkins, and the food came out very fast for a Friday night. I look forward to returning and trying other...
Read moreSpending the week in the area this was my family's first experience with Paradise Pizzeria. The staff was GREAT, from the gentleman on the phone to the young lady ringing me up when I picked up my order. We ordered, 2 large cheese pies, a large pepperoni pie, a couple dozen wings crispy and hot ( they FRY them, YES!!) and a Anitpasto salad. Upon picking up the order,, pizza was HOT, yes! looked beautiful. Kids dove in even on the way back to our vacation spot.....that's where good things ended. The pizza lacked Salt,...low on cheese, it seemed lackluster and sort of bland. Sorry, my families review, our opinons. the pizza sauce was actually VERY tasty. The wings?....SMOKIN HOT in temp when I opened them up at the cabin. Remember, I ordered them Crispy and Buffalo HOT. I know they tend to steam a little when taken to go...but, unfortunately they were NOT cooked to crispy, in fact they were barely cooked through. I was so disappointed. To add to my disappointment, the sauce...NOT HOT, it cayenne peppery. So, thin in taste but on the back end spicy because of the distinct amount of cayenne pepper. Definitely NOT what you would expect in a hot wing. I'll end up finishing the cooking myself and making a quick hot wing sauce for the 15-16 or so that were left. The "Anitpasto salad" ? basically if you added some sliced boiled eggs, it would be a "Chef salad"....NOT Antipasto. Not, what i ordered...PLUS the Oil and vinegar dressing that I requested was about 90 percent oil....again...disappointed. I did call and express my disappointment to the manager on...explaining that there was no refund requested ,...just a suggestion to correct these issues before MORE people decide to no longer frequent this "pizzeria" Like our family has unanimously decided not to. Really sorry, but only in town for a week? We'll take our chances on spending hard earned money...
Read moreOrdered online (2 salads and a blt) for a pick up, told ready in 25min. Sat in my car outside of restaurant. Kept an eye on their tracker to see order was accepted, food was being prepared, then 30 minutes later I was notified my order had been picked up; yet I was still in the car/hadn't picked it up. Walked in to inquire, was told by the Morgan (behind the counter - who's mask was down by her lips clearly not folloeing Health Dept Regulations) that someone with the same name as mine came in to pick up an order. Mine was given to him since he didn't know what he ordered. Yes they offered to remake the food, but told would be another 15 minutes (I guess taking responsibility for THEIR mistake and asking the new order to be done on the fly (so I could get out the door, was not an option). She then told me she could give me the number to the guy/family that got my order so I could call and ask where my order was and if I could come get my order! WHAT?
I understand mistakes happen HOWEVER this is the 4th time in under 2 months they have screwed up or forgotten the order. Last time we ordered we waited 40 minutes for delivery only to get a phone call informing they ran put of bread! Yup waited 40 minutes to let us know our order wouldnt be made. (Interesting enough there is a foodlion right across the street that is open until 11pm. One would think they could have sent someone over to get bread!)
As someone who had ordered from this location for years, always tries to support local small businesses AND understood/stands mistakes happen I can honestly say Never again! The management and owner seem to not care about customer satisfaction. You are simply just an order number. They only care...
