I've been going to Pepperjacks since I moved into the area in 2006-- so it's been some time. I've seen it go through various expansions and renovations in its time, yet PJ has never lost its neighborhood feel. The restaurant exudes warmth and a welcoming feeling, only to be accompanied by warm, feel-good food. You come to Pepperjacks for the subs and fries; you stay for the delicious soft service ice cream and milkshakes.
The service here is admirable and food comes out of the kitchen quickly. Phone orders are a good idea if you're carrying out, especially during lunch time. The staff can get a bit flustered during busier times and you'll notice this when the restaurant stops taking phone orders or your order is made wrong.
The atmosphere is nice and cozy. Inside you'll find some booth seating and a few tables; outside are a bunch of picnic tables backed by an open grass slope-- it's perfect for kids.
Things I Like: Buffalo Chicken Sub Chicken Marinara Sub Boardwalk Fries Milkshakes
Things I Dislike: Tomato Soup - The tomato soup seems exceedingly average and not homemade; I was rather disappointed.
Pepperjacks has seen some upgrades recently. Inside you'll find new marble counters which add a cleak look but they detract from the shop's rustic feel. I feel as though reclaimed wood would have been a better choice. The outdoor seating is also a pleasant addition as is the extended...
Read moreWe saw a sign on the highway for Pepperjacks Subs. We thought why not, sounds good. We went. Loved the charm of the place. Went in and there were a bunch of people ordering ice cream. But it went fast. We got two subs. One Cuban, one with roast beef. Then my husband said a bucket of fries, I did say, let's try to share the regular. Good thing we did! The regular is an overflowing cup in the bag! We got a strawberry shake and a peanut butter explosion one. We sat inside, at a table by a window. I saw houses across the street, and said "it would be dangerous for me to live there" knowing this place was across the street! We loved it! I was taking snap chats of the place and sending them to my grown kids, saying we are going to come here again, that I don't have any pics on my phone to share. HERE IS THE BEST PART the service. I left my purse there. I was super distracted by some news. Then an employee Megan. Took time to post this on Howard County Eats. And keep it safe. I know a ton of people in Ho Co, and they texted me, my husband, and my kids. She took her time, to keep it safe, and let me know. (My number is no where in my purse I realize). So thank you for good food, good service, the other patrons in the restaurant seem to go there often and were very friendly, and we...
Read moreI really love this place. I've been here twice, the first time I came by around 2 years ago. Even back then this restaurant was very good. The prices are exactly what you would expect, about $16 with tax for a huge sandwich. The portions are really big, and the sandwiches themselves are really really tasty. I also saw people come in for milkshakes, they advertise fresh bread, and they have a spot for DoorDash orders. Highly recommended! I got the Chicken Ranchero.
The person working the counter was very nice, didn't try to upsell me, just took my order and helped other customers. Exactly what you expect. Gave 4 stars because that is just them doing their job very well.
Atmosphere in my opinion is top notch, they have one of those old statues of a cartoonish guy right by the door, the whole building is in the middle of a neighborhood, they don't play loud music, there's plenty of seating inside (if you get in early. This place can get filled quickly) and there is also outdoor seating. I...
