Come here for a "Chipotle style" Korean bowl. This new location offers rice/noodle bowls and bibimbap. I opted for a noodle bowl as I was getting carry-out. The noodles are chilled and a bit thinner than boxed spaghetti. The protein choices included bulgogi, so of course I picked that. The bulgogi is sweet and spicy, thinly sliced. There were a couple other protein choices including chicken (which you can get for $7.99 in their lunch special between 11-3) and steak for an additional $2. You then get to pick five vegetable toppings. I picked onion, corn, cucumbers, pickled radish, and kimchi. The kimchi is pleasently funky and the pickled radish is sweet with a crisp bite. All the vegetable toppings are chilled. Finally before you pay you get your choice of sauce. I picked the sweet chili sauce as that was what was recommended. It is surprisingly spicy (which is a good thing for me). I'd put it at about a medium level. At the register I was told to mix everything up when I ate it (which I did). Ultimately I really enjoyed this. I'll be going back to eat the bibimbap in the restaurant. This is Korean BBQ food, but it's not a style like Honey Pig where you get to cook it in front of yourself, so don't come for that. I can see this being a regular dinner...
Read moreWhere Fit Noodles did not deliver, Red Tigers did and I am so happy this place exists. We don't have any good Korean food IN Pasadena. Or if we do, I certainly don't know where it is. The staff were friendly, open, and personable. Lots of laughs to be had. Kimchi was deliciouuuus. Yaaaaaas. I even got a big thing of Kimchi to take home with me. You can't go wrong with the bibimbap (a basic mixed bowl full of rice, veggies, your choice of meet, sauces, and a fried egg on top!). Listen, this stuff was so good and so flavorful. I couldn't have asked for a better lunch and I was happy, and we all know food tastes better when you are happy. If you wanna support a small local business, please go here. The couple working it are super sweet and the food was very tasty. SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES SO THIS ONE CAN STICK AROUND!
Update: It's been few years since I last posted but I'm so glad to see all of the local love and support for this place. Thank you to the staff at Red Tiger for continuing to be hidden gems in Pasadena. We need more small businesses like you to show off such amazing dishes and culture! Also o had the fried tofu in my spicy ramen? 10/10....
Read moreI come here often since I work around the area and this is the only good food option in a 3-4 mile range. I'd argue that this is the best food in Pasadena but unfortunately that isn't saying alot /: You can get a noodle or rice bowl chipotle style in a matter of minutes or less. The lunch bowl size is a generous portion of food for a reasonable price; as of now it's around 10 bucks.
Kimchi/bulgogi Burger is tasty but I would recommend eating it as soon as you can since it's messy and the bun can fall apart easily.
Items aside from the bowls are also good but can take a little longer to prepare. The baked potatoes are awesome; the fusion of the cheese, sour cream and green onions along with Korean flavors from whatever meat or other toppings you get make a good combo.
Good vegetarian options as well. Tofu is good. They also have some sort of veggie meat option I haven't tried. You can add eggs, black beans or edamame if you want some...
