This place is awful, the food tastes terrible. We tried curry chicken, jerk chicken, curry goat, and plantains. The curry dishes were very dry with very little sauce. Wonāt be going back there. But the worst part was the rude Trinidadian lady who serves the food. If you youāre there for the first time & arenāt sure exactly what you want, she gets very impatient with you. If she has to go 2 steps back to the start of the food area (where the plantain is), she gets upset you didnāt tell her you wanted something from that areaā¦. an area an arm-length away from her. I asked her to simply lift the lids of the food, so I could see what the different dishes looked like, and she got an attitude and wouldnāt show me everything. Just quickly said what everything was. I was the only person in the restaurant, mind you. Online orders were coming in over the computer, so I guess I was a nuisance to her. I told her the reason I was asking to see what was under the lids (how the food looked) was because I am catering a large event in a couple weeks (about 35 people). I thought that would help her to be more patient, but she didnāt care. She just said ācall me to place the catering order.ā
So I just ordered some entrees to-go and left. I asked her for the receipt. She said the computer wouldnāt print it because of how I paid on the screen. Not sure what I did wrong. So I could only see the total price. After I paid she accidentally added something to my bag that wasnāt mine (from an online order), so I told her it wasnāt mine. Thatās why I asked for the receiptā to make sure I was charged properly. Nope, she couldnāt even do that. Then I asked her to just tell me the price of each item (I would add it myself), & she said the prices are online. And this is the lady they have serving the food to customersā¦
When I got home I believed I had been overcharged, so I called the store. After several calls she final answered. I told her I checked the prices online and I believed I had been overcharged. She said the online prices were old prices. Not kidding, folksā The same lady who told me to go online to get the pricesā¦.. If you know the online prices are wrong, why tell me to go there in the first place? She said the next time I came into the store she would give me a credit, then immediately hung up the phone. I was trying to ask her why she couldnāt just credit my credit card, but she hung up before I could even finish my sentence.
I donāt know who owns this place, but not only is the food bad, but the customer service of this particular woman is completely nonexistent. Go somewhere else because you will be a nuisance to her. I guess she forgot sheās working in a restaurant. Itās not everyday I receive appalling service like this, and that is the reason...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis restaurant was my new favorite, but go to ISLAND PRIDE INSTEAD. This restaurant will send you things you didn't order, and don't care if you like it or not. BE WARNED! The items online don't match what they actually have, so they will send a substitute without your permission when you order delivery. UBER EATS isn't checking Nobody expects the delivery driver going through their food, but the restaurant should at least call the person ordering. DETAILS BELOW
I have been sick for about a week.š·š¤§ Thank God its NOT the virus, but I needed dinner last night for my family. My sister ordered Caribbean Flavor before, and we LOVED itš¤¤. So last night she ordered my favorite foods from their website. When the food was delivered, we got only one of my orders correct. šŖ I don't eat meat, so I ordered the corn soup. They sent the cow foot soap or something. So that was a waste. š¤ØMy sister reached out to them, but nothing. So much for my dinner. Then as I look at the food this morning, I see they also forgot the sides I ordered. we ordered pumpkin as seen on their site, and we got curry potato. So neither myself or the kids are dinner since they LOVE the pumpkin. (The pumpkin is how I get them to eat Jamaican food because it is sweet.) Needless to say, if the restaurant would have called us to let us know they didnt have items on their website instead of sending us with ANY OLD side, I could have picked another side my kids LOVE. We all don't like the curry potato.ā¹ it was very mushy with the shrimp and roti. I would have not wasted over $70 bucks! Smh next time, het pizza. ugh Or go to Island Pride. They would have called instead of send things I DIDN'T ORDER WHILE KEEPING MY MONEY. š” Smh. I'm trying to do the right thing and stay home stand order food, but with restaurants like this one sending you whatever MESS they want, I can't afford to keep wasting money. Again ISLAND PRIDE is another JA restaurant and I Doubt they would have done that. š The only great part of the meal was the Doublesšš¤Ŗ. I would have LOVED the food, if it was what I ordered. I write this review to warn others because they didn't care to reply when my sister reached out to them to fix the mistakes. This $70 might be nothing to them, but for our family of 4, we are now out dinner for another day. Typically we could eat JA food for 2 or 3 days (at least the servings size is good) but who can get a 3 and 6 year old to eat food they DON'T like? UGH! I just wish there was a way to return food before paying if it's not what you ordered. So BE WARE ALL!!! THEY DON'T HAVE WHAT'S ONLINE AND WILL SEND YOU WHATEVER THEY WANT.
Pictures below. Hubby ate at least šš¤. What a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt breaks my heart to give Caribbean Flavor two stars. First and foremost, when I saw a Caribbean Restaurant was coming to Germantown I got super excited. Yessssssssssssssss - a good Caribbean Restaurant is exactly what Germantown needs (I thought). My high hopes were rapidly dashed when I ventured into Caribbean Flavor on Saturday, 06/16/2018 and was third in line. Small place - no problem. Two servers one of whom doubles as a cashier- a slight problem as the server was alternating between writing down each order on a notepad, taking the notepad over to the warming/serving station to plate the food, then back to the register to ring up the order. Anyway, I patiently waited (even as she dished out ten doubles for a customer - not customer # 1 mind you- this customer whom purchased the 10 doubles was already seated). Anyway, fast forward to twenty minutes later when I finally got the chance to place my order which I got "to go". One doubles, one oxtail dinner with a side of chick peas and a side of plantain, and a curried chicken roti. I got home and eagerly bit into the doubles, which was delicious. I will definitely buy that again. The things I will NOT be buying again is the curried chicken or oxtail as they were seriously lacking in flavor. As an island woman, I know the importance of seasoning and marinating meats prior to cooking so the meats are flavorful. Apparently, Caribbean Flavor figured persons in Germantown do not know the difference or deserve good, authentic Caribbean food.
In summary, Caribbean Flavor is a no for me as they seriously are lacking flavor.
P.S. took a peek at the rice and peas on the serving/warming table and the rice was clumped together so, if you are serious about having authentic Caribbean food, please skip...
