Robbed at Fork Point with a fantastic local craft beer.
Modern decor and pleasant hostess! See the pictures.
I feel like I just got robbed at fork point at The Social. I should have heeded the many warning sign’s
The Warning signs:
1.) Venue: the end of the strip mall. You just can’t put lipstick on a pig.
2.) Pigeon poops greets you upon arrival.. check out the pictures. Bird guano adores the faux portico at the entrance.
3.) Empty at 6pm on a Saturday evening.
4.) debris and dirt on the floor. The place was not clean. Ahh, see the picture because it is hard to believe.
The Food: cheap, rip off, over priced and they use a bait and switch for foreign food sources. Ask questions!
Highly suspicious food sources -
I confirmed this restaurant uses foreign seafood like shrimp from places like India and China for shrimp salad and shrimp tacos.
It does use the Texas shrimp for only one dish and it uses the those shrimp sparingly with a substantial up-charge of 40-50 percent!! They initially led me to believe the shrimp was from Texas, after further questioning, it was confirmed to be foreign by the kitchen staff.
If they mislead on the shrimp then I imagine they mislead on everything.
I decided to order the Buffalo Chicken Flat bread thinking it was the safest choice. It sounded wonderful. But what I got was a small piece of toasted flatbread with a smidgen of a buffalo sauce and tiny chicken chunks covering about 60% of the small flatbread at $18! The tiny chicken chunks made me think of the pigeons at the front door. I get more chicken and better tasting chicken at the fast food chicken place. It was a big disappointment!! I ended up using ketchup on the flatbread to compensate for the lack of flavor.
My son got the pulled pork sandwich he liked the pork. However, the French fries were extremely salty and horrible.
The good news was the local crafted beer!
I spent about $100 for a $20 meals in a dirty dive. I still tipped the waiter very well. He did his job and I certainly do not blame him.
However, I felt robbed...
Read moreI never write reviews but after dining at The Social and having a great meal at a reasonable price with great service I have to post this review. Don’t be skeptical of the 4.9 rating as I was. From the moment I entered the door and the hostess greeted me, I felt I was going to be I for a treat. I went in alone on a Thursday 4/21 afternoon at approximately 530 Pm and was immediately seated. My waiter promptly approached me and indicated he just started working here a couple of days ago and he begin to provide some of the best service I’ve ever had. Wry attentive, smiled, pleasant demeanor and come by about every 5 minutes to make sure I was ok.
I ordered the Ox Cherry Festival Saison Beer and the Wisconsin Bacon Buttered Cheese burgers a brioche roll-single patty. Less than ten minutes later, came one of the best burgers and fires combo I’ve Eve had. The burger patty has a nice beef flop r the brioche roll was fresh and had a slight sweetness to it and the fries were crispy flavorful and had a slight tinge of spice to them. The beer, burger and fries were absolutely delicious. I even had the best Key Lime Pie I’ve ever had! Midway through my meal, Paul the owner approached me and ask how everything was. His approach was not patronizing but very friendly. He explained the sourcing of the beef, and the process for making the burger and he provided great information about the quality of the ingredients used at the restaurant. His humility and friendliness revealed he was truly concerned about his patrons. Paul, don’t ever lose that quality about you and I wish you the best and thank you for the wonderful experience you and your staff provided to me. Did I mention the other wait staff all smiled spoke to me as the passed...
Read moreFirst time here since the rebranding and it was a much better experience than its former iteration.
The decor of the place is much more open, airy and smartly appointed. The bar was moved to a side wall which opened up more table space and allowed for more seating at the bar. There is an outdoor patio that's covered and, presumably, heated in the colder weather. We sat inside at a table by the side door leading to the patio. The noise level inside is lively with louder music playing overhead.
Those with mobility issues will not have a problem in the restaurant. There is plenty of room between tables to navigate with rollators or wheelchairs.
The website has a list of all of the spirits available. Though you can easily see they have a LOT of bourbons on the wall. I had an Elijah Craig 12 yr which was very pleasant on the nose and had a light caramel finish. My wife had the Firesteed pinot noir which she said was a great wine from the Willamette Valley.
The menu is filled with more lighter fare options than traditional platters. (There are entrees on the menu that we're going to try on our next visit.) We ordered the fried pickles (4) and mozzarella sticks (3) for the table. The pickles were OK though not a lot of flavor and the mozz sticks were huge. Neither app was greasy at all which is not common for fried apps. My wife had their pulled pork sandwich while I had the Buffalo chicken sandwich. Both were cooked well and very flavorful. Our friend had the butter burger and said it was very good.
We didn't have time for dessert nor did I see the bill because our friend insisted on paying. But we will definitely be back again and will be sitting at the...
