Vocelli Pizza — Restaurant in Maryland

The food here is great, and I've had a handful of good delivery experiences (enough to give three stars) but it's actually a running joke in my family that the people who work there are incredibly spacey and unfocused.

On multiple occasions we've called them and had to talk the employee through every individual letter of our (very simple) address, being asked, slowly and multiple times, what each letter was, sometimes even taking 20 minutes just to clarify the address. These conversations have been so ridiculous and the employees so comically slow that we've actually found it hard not to laugh on the phone. I wish I could describe in words how hilarious it is, but it's gotten frustrating. We always seem to need to ask somebody else to take our order.

We'll also get conflicting messages from different employees and managers as to whether our house is in the delivery area (it definitely is) and it seems like their computer system is never quite working.

I remember a recent time, I ordered and everything seemed to be fine. I commented as such to my parents since we avoid ordering there unless we have a lot of time on our hands to make that call. After an hour went by, I called the place, and they said they thought I wanted carry out, which I had specified multiple times I did not, sending my entire family into laughter. Fortunately, the manager (who was not the person to take the order) was kind enough to fully reimburse us.

It seems to have gotten a little bit better recently, but again, it's developed a reputation among my friends and family for weird service. I can't speak for ordering in person, as I personally never have, but this is the closest pizza place to me, the pizza itself is great, and it would be nice if I felt more confident ordering...

I placed an order at 7:23 pm. An hour went by and I still hadn’t received my order so I called the store.

I was told that my order was delivered to the wrong address and the driver had to turn around and get it. So I asked if my order was given to another person.

The person on the phone then tried to correct himself and said no, it was actually a random pizza that was given to the wrong person. At about 8:45 my pizza finally came and it was not what I ordered.

I called the store again and they said my pizza was in fact given to the wrong person and they’d make and send another one.

Two hours later I am still waiting for my pizza. So I called the store again and the person who answered told me the driver was on his way.

Another 30 minutes went by and still nothing had arrived so I called the store again and the person who answered said it was very concerning that my pizza didn’t arrive and the driver said he would clock out and drop my pizza off on his way home.

That was odd because why are you off the clock still delivering food?

Needless to say the pizza never arrived and it is 10:06 pm. Mind you I placed the order at 7:23pm.

The pizza here is good. However, I will not order again nor would I recommend anyone to order.

If you are willing to bring me a pizza that was given to someone else what more will you do?

That is very disturbing. Then the fact that an employee told me all that like it was ok makes it even worse.

I was also not given a call in regards to my missing pizza that I paid for.

I would like to say first of all Vocellis has always been my families go to delivery pizza. They have always been right on schedule and the pizza has been delicious. Tonight, I wasn’t impressed; the person taking the order got the phone number wrong even when I corrected him when he confirmed it. As the delivery driver came up to the address, he circled the street twice, then he decided to give up and go back to Vocellis. After a while, I called them back to see where the pizza was and the same man who took my order said they both called numerous times. When I confirmed my number (again!) with him he had gotten it wrong. I asked if the pizza would still be fresh because a hour had already passed. He said, “yes it is still warm” when the driver came back! I had to step outside and get the pizza. When I walked back inside, I opened the box and the pizza was ripped apart and it did not look like a fresh hot pizza when it normally does any other day. Another thing, I had also ordered a garden salad. When we finally got it, it was completely turned upside down. I know for sure that was not a mistake. A salad container is not just going to flip upside down from a bumpy car ride or anything else except for when a person physically picks up the box and throws it in the bag. Vocelli’s I am extremely disappointed in you guys. I expect a lot more from you guys. Next time, be better with the customer service while taking carryout\delivery orders.
