This place is “plant based” not “vegan” TL;DR: the tuna roll is perfect, but they really need more transparency about everything that isn’t vegan.
I got some clarifications on some confusing menu items. I don’t think they know how important it is that vegans absolutely need to know what not to order. We first called and were told to make a note when we order, but when we ordered online, there was no space to indicate that we needed it all to be vegan. So we went in person the next day.
There is real chicken egg as an option in the “make your own” bowl, and the Dubai strawberry cup isn’t vegan either. (They use real nonvegan Nutella, the dulce de leche is condensed dairy milk, and it sounded like some other components may not be vegan, because when I asked for confirmation that the white chocolate option was vegan, she changed her tune and suggested that I shouldn’t order it at all. She said they had it as a valentine’s special, but people kept requesting it, so they’re still offering it. I really hope vegans haven’t been unknowingly ordering it.) the fact that they first said everything is vegan and then corrected themselves only when I asked about specific items makes me nervous that there are other nonvegan things that aren’t disclosed. (I mean they were initially going to let me order the Dubai cup, but I kept asking about different components)
Other than this distressing confusion, we got the tuna roll (super tasty! The tuna seems like it might be a sort of TVP product) the palm rice cupcakes (fascinating spongy texture, somewhere between mochi and cupcake with a delightful coconut glaze) the chive rice cakes (also tasty, gooey middles with possibly garlic chives? But they say scallions, so maybe it’s scallion greens. Quite unique, haven’t had anything like it before). Street noodles (yummy. Creamy coconutty peanutty noodles with very lightly cooked tofu, maybe steamed, or perhaps uncooked. The carrots were nice and tender.) And lastly, we got the round noodles with scallops (pretty straightforward and simple, not all that flavorful. The tofu was nicely grilled, lovely fresh bean sprouts, the rice noodles were thick and chewy, the bok choy was sautéed just right. The scallops appeared to just be king oyster mushroom stems. Not very flavorful, and they appeared a bit too undercooked, the texture was too raw and squishy/rubbery for me, but my husband enjoyed them.)
My omnivore father-in law got the banh-mi, and he was disappointed with how little tofurky and tofu there was. The rest of the family got other things that I don’t remember, and were all very pleased with...
Read moreMy friend and I ventured upon this place randomly since we were hungry for something that wasn’t seafood or burgers. We were staying in Cape Cod for vacation and all we had been eating was pretty much seafood and things that we would grill for dinner. (Lobster rolls, oysters, chowder, the quintessential New England eats.) We did not regret coming here!!! The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were so kind, friendly and attentive. Their menu is pretty extensive so it was difficult for us to choose what we wanted to eat.
My friend had the hometown sandwich with fried tofu cubes and grilled “scallops” which I think might be king oyster mushrooms drenched in a peanut sauce with crunchy cucumbers in a French baguette. The baguette was crispy and the flavors were so fresh! It is like a vegetarian banh mi. I had the Khmer noodles which were thin rice noodles with various veggies in a peanut coconut sauce. The peanut coconut sauce was to die for. It is nothing like the typical sauce you would get in pad Thai. I say it might even be better!
Fresh Roll is a great addition to the area. Lots of great vegan/vegetarian options and they also make fresh organic juices to order. Nothing beats these healthy, delicious and nutritious...
Read moreIt wasn't good, it was absolutely FANTASTIC!! The only complaint I have is that everything sounded so amazing that ordering was very difficult.
After about 10 minutes of drooling over the menu we finally settled on the original fresh roll, an avocado roll, a marinated tofu roll, chili garlic cauliflower wings, and the spicy noodles (a special that I hope they make permanent). Holy s*#t!!! My mouth is watering just thinking about the fresh, delicious, variety of flavors that graced our taste buds during that meal. Literally every bite was incredible. If I lived in the area I would eat here as much as possible. If lunch hadn't been so filling we would have been back for dinner. Ugh I wish I had a bigger stomach!!!
Not only was the food beyond delicious, the staff was super friendly, and every customer was raving about their meals. The food was filling and tasty, so healthy even though we were stuffed we weren't feeling sluggish at all. I cannot rave about this place enough!!
Please, I beg of you, open a location in RI so I can eat your food more!! I'll be back to devour your fantastic...
