This review is not about the restaurant, but about the service we got from one of the waitresses last night. We've always gotten excellent food and service at Smiley's, that is until last night. We ordered a large pizza and when it came found that the dough was not done. I'm not one who gets a kick out of sending things back to be cooked the way they should have been in the first place. I'll eat over-done, under-done steaks, cold soup, it doesn't matter. However, one thing I don't like eating is raw dough on a pizza. So when the waitress came around to ask us how everything was, I told her that the pizza needed a little more time to bake. She took the pizza back to the kitchen. All fine and good, to this point.
Some time later, a different waitress brought us our pizza, with our original waitress several feet behind her. Less than five seconds later, after the pizza had been set on the serving rack, our original waitress ask us if everything was OK. I told her I didn't know yet as the pizza had just arrived back. Alas, when I tried another piece of the pizza I found that it too had raw dough. In another five minutes I finally saw her serving another table and waved at her to get her attention. She waved back at me as if to mock me. When she finally came over, after the other people in our party had finished their meals, I told her that the pizza was still undone. She looked at me as if to say, "Why are you telling me this?" I told her to "just give me a box, I'll take it home." I ordered dessert and when we were finished with it, took the $26 bill and paid it, leaving her a $3 tip which I thought was generous considering the service we received. We've had the same waitress before and I've always tipped her well so I don't know what her beef was. It will be a long while before I go back to Smiley's and in the meantime I will tell everyone I know about the lousy service...
Read moreI decided after reading reviews on the website to try Smiley's for a second time in my Life. I lived in Massillon for years & tried the Alfredo pasta before in had no taste to it & was extremely oily but after reading this site & a few others & watching video I thought maybe I would give them another chance. I loaded the family up & drove to the restaurant. We were not acknowledged when we walked through the door then after choosing one of the few less dirty spots to sit our waitress greeted us. She seemed nice enough but I think she may have had a hearing problem. Our order was messed up. My husband ordered the fried mushrooms for appetizer which must have been frozen & microwaved they were hard & had NO moisture to them. NONE of us could eat them I sent them back. My sons meal which was suppose to be sauce on the side was not prepared as such & to top it off she brought the sauce extra on the side. We finished our meal I did not want to be there any longer than possible so I got my food to go. The quality of which was something you would get at fast food location in my opinion. The environment was deteriorating & could have been more inviting & clean. when we walked up to cashier we expected them to remove the mushrooms charge & the extra sauce charge the waitress billed us but they had no intention of doing as ANY other reputable restaurant would. They did knock off $2.00 on the bill. This still does not make me happy in the least!! I was already feeling ill before I left & when I came home & I literally just finished throwing up the awful food I had. I would like to say it tasted worse the second time around but honestly I think it may have tasted better. I WILL NOT EVER BE RETURNING THERE & DO NOT BELIEVE THESE GOOD REVIEWS!! If you have a sensitive pallet & enjoy good food you will be VERY...
Read morethis was my first time trying this place, I’m from out of town but my husband is from here so decided to try it. We dined in and both ordered fettuccine Alfredo, mozzarella sticks, loaded baked potato, and the New York cheesecake. Our server was heather and she was absolutely fantastic and very attentive! The food was delicious as well. The fettuccine Alfredo is definitely its own recipe I’ve never tasted Alfredo like I have here, it has like an herbal aftertaste but like I said, I can see why people may or may not like it but to each their own, we loved it. very unique place. I can tell this place doesn’t get the business it deserves since new ownership and that’s sad because I recommend this place to anyone that asks. The atmosphere and interior designed definitely needs remodeled but can understand if business is slow and not what it needs to be. I think people are just being rude because they’re mad that smiley retired and it’s ran by a new owner but honestly I wouldnt knock it until you try it. everything was amazing and Dave even spoke to my husband face to face and thanked him for coming in, super sweet and hard working. he was busting ass cooking orders left and right, I can tell he’s trying and I say he’s doing a pretty good damn job. Keep up the good work! I’m rooting for this business because this restaurant has really good potential. 10/10 my husband and I...
