Disappointed to say the least. I am not a fan of changing a review from 5 star to 1 star but I believe this is necessary. Please see previous post in photos. We arrived at 4:00 for happy hour and found the doors locked. At 4:15 my wife walked to the side door(which specifically states to use the front door) and asked if they were open for Happy Hour because the front door is locked. She was told by 2 employees who were chatting and eating “yes we are open”. My wife came out to get me and we both entered again through the side door staff was still eating and chatting and no attempt to unlock the front door. No apology or greeting was made. We saw ourselves to the bar where a very friendly bartender provided us with menus. Unfortunately to my surprise the Ruben Sandwich(which I have enjoyed previously & is listed on the website) was no longer on the menu. While this was not a dealbreaker, it was my reason for the visit. We ordered the Farmers Chopped Salad, Duck Arepas, Wine and a Coke. The Duck Arepas and drinks were brought promptly but the salad order was never placed. The bartender admitted to the mistake & graciously apologized for the error. The salad came and was disappointing to say the least. Little to No chicken as described in other reviews. When the bill came I made a huge error in not reviewing the items purchased before paying. Upon reviewing the itemized receipt I realized I was overcharged for multiple items. The bartender graciously apologized and returned with the revised bill (after being ignored by his fellow employees as he was having trouble canceling the first overcharge) stating he deleted the mistake and everything was corrected. After returning home my wife proceeded to make sure the corrections were made and discovered we were charged 3 times and ended up having to call Rotie to straighten the matter out, only to be told “it may take 3 to 5 business days to correct the issue! This is not the dining experience we were hoping for. Sadly, I don’t see...
Read moreI appreciate the reply, but do feel inclined to add one more note in relation to the comment about Valentines day, and the suggestion that couples may be fine with tighter seating arrangements. While the general premise there seems OK, the reality is that this was a continuous booth with no dividers between parties, and the closest patron to us was a baby. Although I greatly enjoy the other two "Stella's" concepts in the Greenville/Simpsonville area, this location just doesn't compare. Overall, the menu felt overpriced for what we received. Our $18 fondue appetizer was completely cold in the center and we had to send it back. It came in a mini skillet (imagine the size you might anticipate getting if you ordered a "cookie sundae" somewhere) and was bits of ripped up bread at the bottom topped with the fondue cheese and a little prosciutto. I can't fathom how the cost of this is justified. Cheese also tasted like cream of mushroom soup and was not very appetizing.
In terms of atmosphere...we were packed in like sardines. I was sat at a table that had a booth on one side, and what I imagine should have been a chair(s) on the other. Instead, they took away the chair and placed ANOTHER dining table on the opposite side of ours in order to maximize the space. My date and I's only option, despite me making this reservation a month in advance, was to sit together on the same side of the booth, crammed between a sea of other guests who were in the same boat. There were too many guests to remove half the seating options available for our entire row.
Every person I came across was exceptionally nice (e.g. wait staff, hostess, etc.). But to me, this whole thing just screams greedy management. When entrées are $30-$50 a piece, guests deserve a...
Read moreWe recently visited here had a very mixed experience. The food itself was quite good — flavorful, well-prepared, and served at the right temperature. Enjoy the steak so much wish we both got it and not the pasta. The atmosphere was also pleasant, not to loud or so quiet you afraid to talk making it a place I initially thought I’d return to.
Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. After our food arrived, our waiter never came back to check on us—not once during the meal. Only as soon as the food was dropped off by someone else and he asked if it was good before we even had a chance to taste it. When we asked to have the rest of our food packed to go, after trying to get his or anyone attention while we waited over 20 minutes our food was already cold even thought we was just taking it home kinda want it to still be warm when we got it to go the waiter abruptly grabbed our plates, and basically stormed off saying he would have to box them up gave us the check we put our card in it to pay and then he returned by tossing our check onto the table without a word. The interaction felt rude and unprofessional, and it definitely put a damper on the evening.
Overall, while the food was worth mentioning, the lack of basic courtesy and attentiveness from the staff makes me hesitant to recommend this place without major...
