Update: After reading the response from management/owners it is clear they have no empathy or compassion or see the value in their long term residents. Renovating and raising the rent after someone chooses to move on from the apartments is understandable, however, raising the rent hundreds of dollars of long term residents in apartments are not renovated, is disgusting. Forcing them to move. Its heartbreaking. Avoid Stone Mark properties. Do not trust them. I feel this problem is so extreme, I will be contacting the news.
Original review: AVOID these properties due to new ownership. Old reviews are no longer relevant. The management company changes every couple years and the latest one, StoneMark, is the worst. They raised the rent of long term residents over $300 to almost $500 a month instantly! They literally forced people (long time, loyal, good tenants and a lot of seniors) from their homes upon new lease signing. It's truly heartbreaking. That is for non updated old apartments. Do not trust them, from whomever happens to be at the front office to Jessica, the regional manager. The breezeways are always filthy, there have been tons of leaking/flooding problems. If you do have an emergency, such as a flood, no one will get back to you timely. There is no one at the office most times and certainly don't answer the phone or they lock the doors if they are there. The reviews praising Lisa, well she is no longer there and trust me was no help if have a problem. There are always tenant issues that are brushed off.... stolen cars, loud exhaust, Domestic violence issues, no police or security resident. You can rent a nice house in a nice safe neighborhood for $1,400 a month or a really nice apartment complex. Please shop around. This management company cares about 1 thing, money. Please trust that and save yourself the time and...
Read moreI recently applied to move to this complex as I need to move from Georgia to Mauldin, SC to be closer to family. Everything was handled online. I received an email stating I’d been declined per my background check. I was obviously surprised so I called the office and spoke with Ashton. She was beyond condescending as she informed me I’d previously lived there and been evicted per my report. She stated she could give me no further info. As I’ve never lived in SC or been evicted from anywhere, I knew this was a mistake and tried to obtain info as to whom to contact about this. She rudely just told me to call the courthouse. I again explained that I didn’t know which courthouse to call as I’m from out of state and know nothing about the area. She eventually gave me a courthouse number but not before she implied this had probably happened because I’d used my name to get a family member into the previous apartment. The courthouse stated they had no record of me ever having been in their system. I called back to Park multiple times, got no answer and left multiple messages. Two days later Ashton finally called me. When I questioned the delay in contacting me back she rudely informed me that she was sick, working from home, and that if I was looking for an apartment complex where I would get quicker responses I should look elsewhere as Park only had her to deal with everything and she had too much on her plate! All of this was rudely and loudly stated. I eventually got in contact with the background check company, they apologized for the mistake, and have corrected the error in my report. However I lost a non-refundable application fee and worst of all had to deal with Ashton, who clearly is in the wrong position. I am definitely not going further with Park at Gilder Creek and suggest anyone else...

I am completely disgusted in how I was treated while trying to become a new resident. I most certainly will be sharing this with my co workers over at Verizon. I will begin by saying, I had high hopes for this apartment complex (Terrace at Butler).. I guess the reviews had been written by employees and not actual residents.
I began my search for a new apartment complex due to the fact that my lease is up next month . I was wanting something closer and less than what I am currently paying. I came across this apartment and was excited. I met The property manager and she let me know she had an apartment for $860 a month for a 2 bed 2 bath. I, along with my boyfriend, jumped right on it. We paid our app fee within 2 hours. I was able to get her my pay stub within those 2 hours. My boyfriend was having issues emailing it so he figured he can print it at work. The following day (Wednesday Jan 16), the second pay stub was handed. The manager said she would give us a call in 24 hours to let us know our approval. Friday morning, I received an email stating completely different amounts that what was discussed!! Had I known it was going to be more than what was originally offered I would’ve NEVER agreed!!! To make matters worse, SHE RAN MY CREDIT AND MY BOYFRIENDS! Those inquires can stay on your report for up to a year !! When I called into the office, she was so rude!! Didn’t care whatsoever about the pricing and asked me several times if she should cancel everything! She said to me “welp , it looks like someone beat you to the punch” . Who says that to someone who is wanting to do business with a company? Worst customer service IN MY LIFE!!!!!! To think I was going to refer 2 other employees because it was a good deal! Definitely...
