Rise & Grind Coffee, LLC — Restaurant in Mauston

Any time I have an opportunity to purchase coffee and food from a small local vendor I consider it a treat. I never buy Starbucks because the quantity of sugar, cream, and flavoring required to hide the acidic and nasty burnt coffee flavors is not healthy.

I heard good things about Rise &Grind Coffee and looked forward to trying them. Had a large coffee w/cream, sugar, and toffee flavor with a lemon lavender scone. Purchased a chocolate chip scone, and a blueberry muffin to try as well.

The coffee was good, plenty of flavor with a very smooth finish. Next time I will skip the cream and sugar to get the full flavor of the coffee. The price was a very good value for a good cup of coffee.

The service was fast even by barista standards. The checkout was simple using a card and didn't require several interactions with the barista and a machine. Coffee cups and lids are eco friendly as well. Nice!

The bakery items I can not recommend. I don't think they were fresh and were packaged in plastic bags similar to what is found at a convenience store. I found no flavor in the chocolate chip scone, and the lemon lavender had a good, strong lemon zest flavor with a lavender finish accentuated by the coffee. They were a little dry.

The muffin had a good flavor and seemed fresh. I can't say if the bakery items were produced at a mass bakery or made in a local kitchen, but they were all generic to me. If made fresh and local I would expect a hand wrapped package rather than the blown plastic bags they were in.

This was the best unexpected find on our road trip up north! Made a pit-stop in Mauston for the kids to run loose, with my only request being that wherever we stopped had a coffee shop to stop in- and we saw Rise & Grind coffee truck right as we got into town! The barista was super friendly and our drinks were absolutely outstanding- much appreciated by caffeine depleted parents😂 you can walk right up and order, or go via the drive thru. Great addition as this service is lacking without heading into the downtown Mauston area. The food trailer is set-up at the S/E corner of the intersection. You can park and walk up or swing through the back for drive-thru service. They have all of the coffees you can get at most coffee shops along with a multitude of flavored Lotus iced drinks.
