So Ive been visiting Starbucks of mayaguez for over 2 years I’d say about every month, I normally receive amazing customer service. I did realize as of last month there are new employees, today I decided to go through drive through something I seldomly do. I asked for a drink off menu that contained all of the ingredients Starbucks serves such as vanilla syrup and cold foam. The lady attending me seemed to not want to make my drink because it was off menu , something I’ve never had trouble with form other employees. She offered me about 4 times other drinks on menu I explained that I have already tried those drinks and just wanted to experiment with other flavors .
I noticed she muted me for no reason for a while and then when she answered she seemed very annoyed at my request which honestly surprises me since I’m the one paying the product. She didn’t ask if I wanted anything else to drink or eat and hastily told me the total , she seemed very rude and annoyed at me . Honestly it’s very sad and discouraging that employees act like this toward customers because they are supposed to represent the brand and make the customer want to visit again . In the 2 years I’ve gone I have never felt as discouraged again to visit as I did today . I’ve worked in customer service and I know it’s not an easy job but when serving a customer it’s important that they feel heard and understood. I’ve been ordering the same drink, a Marble Mocha Macchiato, for nearly a decade now including years in Puerto Rico and in THIS specific Starbuck’s... Granted it’s not on the menu anymore but they definitely have the ingredients to make it and I couldn’t care less what they prefer to charge it as so long as they make my drink right.
Well I took the drive through today as I habitually do having arrived from an exhausting commute and the pretentious barista running the drivethrough seemed to be much more keen on teaching me the menu than in what I wanted to order. She kept insisting on a different name and kept mentioning caramel even though I explicitly said, multiple times: ‘No caramel. It’s a layered macchiato with white mocha on the bottom, mocha drizzle and peppermint syrup on top’… After about 5 minutes of hearing her seminar and realizing she had zero regard for what it was I wanted. I yielded assuming that having told her multiple times what the ingredients were - she couldn’t mess it up too much.

Not the hospitable place the corporation promotes. I visit about once a month and almost always out of desperation. Today a loved one is having a procedure in the nearby medical center.
