Chris' Hamburgers — Restaurant in Maywood

It’s so hard for me to give this place one star. I grew up eating here my entire life. My mother lives across the street still. BUT tonight I was hugely disappointed

I ordered a chili burger over the phone and after being placed on hold for over five minutes I was finally able to place my order

I walked across the street to pick it up I noticed that every single person in the establishment was wearing a face mask and gloves. Except for the cook. He did not have a face mask on and was talking and cooking and making my burger. I was respectful when I questioned the girl at the register about it. She responded that it was OK because he was vaccinated. To which I asked her if she was vaccinated. She responded that she was. So I asked what the difference was and she said that the owner of the establishment allowed to cook not to wear a face mask. I have lost three family members to Covid so far. I am vaccinated and I walked into the establishment with my face mask on. I was expecting the guy that was preparing my food to also be wearing a face mask.

Instead of him offering any kind of explanation he got upset. He turned around laughing at me and walked to the back. I told the girl that I did not know if I felt comfortable even eating the hamburger. To her credit, she was apologetic and said that she would let the owner know.

I’m not blaming the Cook 100%. Clearly, if the owner allows him not to wear masks, it is The owners fault.

This is not the first time that I’ve encountered people at this establishment without facemasks. Midway through this horrible pandemic, I went through the drive-through and saw the owner not wearing a mask. Again I asked the girl at the drive-through window to kindly asked the owner to either put on a mask or step away from the grill.

After coming to this establishment for over 35 years, tonight is the last time that I will visit this place

In part because of how irresponsible they are but the bigger reason was because of how they treated my concerns. Specifically the cook

Very sad to have experience super poor customer service. I travel to California every year multiple times and can’t wait to eat Chris’s.! it’s been a family favorite for over 35 years… placed an order over the phone today onion rings left out… headed back home. Drove about 15 min when my daughter realized they were not in the bag granite they gave me a super tiny bag stuffed with food so it took a minute to get through the whole bag to realize they were not there, called back. They told me that I can come back and pick them up. I explained to them that it was pretty far. Gas is expensive if there’s anyway they can refund it to my card and they said I would still have to drive back. Asked if I can be put on a list to maybe pick some thing up when it was convenient or some thing and they said they couldn’t do that because they had a shift change on Saturdays asked to speak to the manager asked if maybe he gave me like a 10% discount or anything to drive back then I would consider it.. basically the manager made me feel like I was lying to him over onion rings he told me that they never make mistakes and that it’s very rare and that I “should’ve checked my bag before I left” well needless to say this Was a family favorite. Bad Costumer service… 10% off was nothing to ask in exchange of a life...

I came across Chris's while traffic was being detoured. The smell of charbroiled burgers & the smoke stack caught my attention. I said I would come back and try it. And I did!!! 😠 I have multiple disappointments. The 1st problem was my fault I didn't know they had more than one location very close in proximity of each other. Unfortunately! I pulled in the wrong one, I didn't see any smoke nor did I smell any charbroiling. But I didn't think nothing of it at the time. I just founded out I was in the City of Maywood. Ok continuing to my destination approx 5-7 miles down the road, that charbroiling hit my nose & then saw the smoke coming out the stacks on the rooftop. 🤔 WTH Now this is the City of Cudahy. I'm still determined to try this location. I know some of you are saying what happened to the 2nd and 3rd disappointment. Hang in there I'm getting ready to roll these all together. My double cheeseburger was flatter than two staked pancakes! I ordered everything on it plus extra pickles. After I bite into it; 1 of the 2 patties was totally raw 😠 I was truly hangry at this point! I need to take pics before I throw stuff away, but y'all got...
