Went there Thanksgiving Eve with friends to see a band, who were great. There were 7 of us and we asked to sit at a table in the front section where the band was and were told no because there was a $15 minimum. Pointed out to the gray haired gentleman that we would def be spending that on drinks and also, there were people at the tall bar tables but only 2 out of all the regular dining tables were occupied (practically empty). Then he added we had to be eating to sit there anyway and because it was the busiest night of the yr they wouldn't make an exception. Long story short, we convinced him to let us sit at a table right before the band started and the waitress, who was fantastic, took our drink order and then said if we were having food order now because the kitchen was closing in a 1/2 hr because they were preparing for Tksgiving…So the whole you had to be eating thing wasn't even possible a 1/2 hr later. The band was great and people wanted to dance but again, the grumpy guy was resistant to moving one of the many empty tables to make room. So, yeah, overall the place is nice, the band was great, the bartender and waitress were outstanding...but the whole thing about the table was ridiculous. Why did we have to stand by the bar in the other room from where the band was because they expected a rush that, btw, never happened the whole time we were there. I'd suggest not preparing for a an onslaught of people that may never come but instead take care of the patrons that are present and willing to spend money and time there. PS have the "smack" band back, they...
Read moreI've been to the Twin Door Tavern a couple times over the past year and each time I enjoyed my experience.
First, my USTA coordinator organized our captains meeting here. They put out a buffet of salad, pasta, rice, chicken francese, and another meat dish. I definitely enjoyed all of the food when I came for this event which was held in the additional dining room that is separate from the bar area.
On my most recent visit, some friends and I decided to stop by for a Friday happy hour. Twin Door Tavern was busy on a Friday evening! They had a live band coming in which definitely increased the crowd over the course of the evening. We mainly came for drinks but a few people ordered food/apps. One person ordered the spinach and artichoke dip and was a bit disappointed that the dip wasn't warm all the way through. I mainly enjoyed wine so I cannot comment on the others meals/dessert but they looked tasty.
I think the only "compliant" was that I felt as though we were a burden. It was a larger group of us but from the time we came in it felt as though we were going to be a "problem" for where to put us and then we were told we needed to leave by a certain time because others had reserved the place we had been put into. I do understand that it was a busy night for them so I wasn't truly bothered by this because I understood but others in my group...
