Mendoza's Mexican Grill — Restaurant in McAlester

This is an odd one for me. So I asked some Hispanics in spanish which took them by surprise a big wedo speaking to them, lol. However they told me this place had "la comida Mexicana buena" good Mexican food. They said to come here. So, we headed there after our business.

I'll get right to it. The place is clean, plain, and nondescript as far as atmosphere and curb appeal. Honestly, so was the salsa. The worst part of the meal and after looking at many reviews, I'm not the only one who noticed. It's basically tomato sauce and cilantro, too acidic with zero garlic, onion, or jalapeno flavors.

I was not hopeful for the dish I ordered which was Carnitas. Any mexican place worth its salt makes good carnitas. And, they didnt disappoint with the Carnitas to be perfectly honest. There was plenty of pork tasted exactly the way it should and tore apart nicely to put in the corn tortillas. Unfortunately, there were no grilled jalapenos, avacado slices, and gor some odd reason lettuce. The rice and beans were just right with the carnitas in the tacos. They use guacamole from a bag too. It's not bad but really not impressive.

I wonder if all the short cuts are because of profits. Sad if they are cause this place could make something of itself if it paid attention to detail. My mom enjoyed her dish but it wasnt amazing or too notable, just good. Anyways, worth a try and the...

Bad customer service. my husband ordered a chalupa and they served him a tostada when we brought that up to our server he laughed and smiled as my husband tried telling him that's not a chalupa so we got up to leave we didn't eat nothing on our plates but we did cut it open to see what was inside and it looked really gross. We told them were not paying for this. The manager gets upset and tell us he's calling the police on us. So I called the sherrifs office and they told me I did nothing wrong. I mean if your gonna get an order wrong at least be an adult and man up to it. I was a regular with them until they treated us like we were stupid 😡 never going back...

I have been a loyal customer for a long time, but after my experience today, I will NEVER come back! My wife ordered spinach enchiladas, and they were horrible! She asked me to try a bite, and it tasted as if the spinach was spoiled. Also, the queso was lumpy, and grainy, and the guacamole was like pudding. We told our waiter the spinach was no good, and he didn’t seem to care. We were not charged for the wife’s order, and the waiter told us that the spinach was good. He obviously didn’t try it.
