Perogies Plus is a small restaurant right off the freeway in a tucked away location serving tasty polish goodies. They offer a variety of perogies as well as some sandwiches, burgers, soups and desserts. Because of Covid they aren't letting anyone inside but you can order outside of their building through a small takeout window. They have 3 tables out front that are in the shade that you can eat at. The atmosphere is simple and clean and feels like they took over an old gas station or something and turned it into a restaurant because of the big awning out front. The food was good and everything had flavor but was a bit oily. The service was quick but seemed rushed and there wasn't many people in line... Overall I would come back but not until I tried other places in the area since there's not much options for perogies in the area.
I got the #1 platter and my wife got the #3. The pasta that came with mine was light and fresh tasting. Tasted like buttered noodles with some onions and they gave plenty! The cabbage rolls were one of my favorites and was cooked in a tomato sauce. The perogies were thick and had plenty of filling on the inside and the dough was soft and easy to cut through. Some places sear their perogies before serving but not here. The Potato and cheese was smooth and tasty and the meat perogies were okay but not my favorite as the flavor was a bit off for me. Also, what is meat?? That would be nice if they explained what kind it was. We also had some local tea called Turners tea. It has as much sugar as a mountain dew and we had to cut it with some water just to not destroy our teeth haha
Only gripe I had was service because when we ordered it seemed rushed and they were taking one order at a time until they got the food out for the person that just ordered. The lady at the window wasn't the one cooking so idk why service was so slow. Also when we ordered, we had to keep saying "no we still have more to order" because she thought we were just getting one thing? Like I said, rushed service. We were also not asked what kind of perogies we wanted and when we ordered a #1 she just said okay. Like what perogies were we going to get??? Food and outdoor shaded seating made up for her but I would maybe order ahead if you don't want to deal with the silliness 🙄

Read moreThis was our first stop when we got to Pittsburgh, I hadn't been out here for 15 years and this was close by our first hotel. I was super excited to try their food, especially the cabbage rolls! We all ordered periogies, kielbasa, and cabbage rolls.
The periogies were good, I put salt on the onions and butter. I liked the kielbasa, but it was just boiled which is good, but I prefer them grilled. However, I did really enjoy the cabbage rolls. The last place I went to in California their cabbage rolls did not hold together well, everything fell apart super easily. With these, they held up well, and the flavor was good. I should have ordered more than one!
The only downside was the atmosphere, we waited outside for our order, and this guy came up and walked over to a table and sat down next to us and kept spitting right on the floor. We had planned on eating there, outside but of course didn't since he was just hanging around. He probably spit five or six times loudly, really coughing stuff up, which really grossed us out so we...
Read moreWe were visiting from Virginia. I called that morning to place an order for 14 bags of pierogies so we could bring them back to Virginia. I advised that I would be there later that afternoon to pick them up and I was told on the phone ... no problem at all. I arrive at the time that I told them and the clerk told me they only had six bags for me. She said that I was told when I called that they may not have enough for me. That is a complete lie. I have four witnesses that heard the call as I had them on speaker and I promise you, I was never told that. In addition, the clerk was not apologetic at all and actually cold and ignorant. You can't even walk in their building - only talk through a little window. It was just a bad experience, and I will be purchasing my pierogies elsewhere. They need to learn some customer service. All that said, their pierogies are very good (the reason why I wanted 14 bags to take home with me in the...
