Greek food in Mckinney redeemed. We came here for a celebratory lunch with the whole family. We had a really bad experience with a different Greek restaurant not too far from here, so we needed to try a new place. We're very happy we did. The food was wonderful and was plated very nicely. Gyros were a hit. The French fries were incredible. Greek side salads could have used some more feta and Veg, but it was at least dressed nicely. A new dish we tried was pastitsio and we loved it! Baked pasta dish that had a cumin kick in the tomato sauce. Lemon potatoes were good. We tried every dessert. We particularly loved that nothing was super sweet. We all have more of a European palate when it comes to sweet things. Chocolate cake was a dark chocolate flavor. Custard pie tasted of custard rather than being buried behind sugar. Baklava tasted of honey, not syrup, so that was excellent. It was a bit soggy, though. I would like to say we'd be eating here often. Unfortunately, the price makes that not possible. We spent $200 for the 6 of us, so sadly, it will only be a special visit and not something we could afford to do regularly. Still, we're very happy to have found good Greek food in the area.

I had surgery a couple weeks ago. Was craving Mediterranean food since I was told to stay away from spicy/oily food. This place is the only halal Mediterranean closest to us. I’ve dined in there multiple times—no issues except that they just can’t make the chicken kabobs right. They are always on the overcooked/dry side despite pointing out to them almost every time. Well, I called them for a pick up order. Reminded them to keep the chicken tender and juicy. The food came home not looking fresh/appetizing at all. Salad was missing—I called them to inform about that. The guy on the phone said they don’t include salad on “to go” orders. I said they should have informed at the time when order was being placed over the phone and maybe charge less. He wasn’t happy with what I said. “Well nobody else complained” is what he replied. “Well someone is complaining now, what are you going to do about that”. He literally just hung up on me. If I were running a business, I would be more considerate and compensate my customers at least by being apologetic. Disappointed! And oh, the kabobs were hard as a rock and gamey. Look at the attached picture—do you think it’s worth $20?

My first visit was 3pm on a Saturday.   Will definitely go back.  First noticed the prices on some of the items seem a tad high.  However, the portions are big so that may balance out the cost in a way.  Two people could definitely split the moussaka and or gyro platter. Kids platter only for 12 and under.   (The reason this is only offered for dine in) They do have high chairs, did not see booster seats. The hummus was good, portioned for two or 3 people. Potatoes in the Moussaka were a little too thick (although it is very good), you also get the lemon potatoes as a side (Pushing your potato quantity up) that complements the Bechamel sauce. In addition the lemon potatoes were absolutely delicious.  Each entree has a small Greek salad.   All in all a good balance if you were to choose anything other than the Moussaka. Look forward to my next visit to try another dish.

We did a Favor order to Santorini Grill. They forgot to add the Tzatziki to our grape leaves app, forgot the Tzatziki on the falafel app and forgot the Tzatziki on the gyro platter. They also did not put Feta on the Kalamata Chicken. If you know Greek food then you know dry Falafel or a dry Gyro with out Tzatziki kills the whole thing. You cant eat it like that. When I called after receiving our order the girl on the phone offered to "take care of us next time" and when I said that was not acceptable since I just spent $60 dollars and would not be back "next time" based on this experience with 4 items not correct she offered an insincere sounding apology and a refund on the grape leaves. She said she would refund 6 dollars for the grape leaves. When I challenged why refund the cheapest thing we ordered and not at the very least refund the entree she said "it wouldn't be fair to do that since we have good food in front of us we can eat and couldn't refund one of the entrees just because we were 'missing a side cup of Tzatziki'." This upset me bacause I wouldn't be calling about a 'side cup' of Tzatziki. It was 3 items fully missing the Tzatziki which make up the items. Would you say that to a consumer in front of you? That the Tzatziki wasnt needed for their order and it was good food so just eat it? Would you serve spaghetti without sauce and say that to your consumer? When I told her she was minimizing by saying I was just missing a "side cup" she informed me she was the owners daughter and not minimizing. If you know Greek food then you know Tzatziki is a big component of the dishes. I had grapeleaves with no Tzatziki, Falafel dry with no Tzatziki and a Gyro platter with nothing but meat and pita. You wouldn't serve it to a consumer in your restaurant this way. Again, it was 3 full items missing it and pasta with no feta. I wouldn't be upset for one side cup. Mistakes happen. Her saying we had "good food in front of us" is ridiculous. A sincere apology and a refund of atleast the entree would have been fair since we spent $60. I would not recommend or visit this establishment based on...

First, some backstory... My family and I lived for several years in Crete, Greece so we love Greek food and have a great fondness for finding Greek restaurants that allow us to relive our time in the Mediterranean. Now, I discovered Santorini Greek Grill on a Google search, trying to find a good central meeting spot for my mom, sister, and I (and our families) to meet - they live in the DFW area and I live in Denison. The menu pictures were drool-worthy and they actually call an authentic Greek salad by the right name (Greek salads do NOT have lettuce in them). So, we decided to give it a go and we were simply blown away! We got there at opening and ended up having the whole place to ourselves for 2 hours - there were seven of us so we had the middle of the restaurant and Lee, our amazing waiter, all to ourselves. I admit, I was actually saddened that there weren’t more people in there - a couple came in as we were finishing and there were a couple of pick up orders but, I have to say, this place NEEDS to be packed! The food was absolutely some of the most authentic Greek food that we’ve had stateside!! We nearly ordered one of everything but decided to just do half the menu on this visit. Haha! Well, maybe not quite half but we sure ordered most of the appetizers! Everything was so delicious and well made. The gyro meat was some of the best quality I’ve had since Crete and the moussaka and pastitsio were perfection! The tsatziki and dolmadakias were magical! And the baklava and Greek custard (can’t remember the name) were to die for!! We were really so impressed and plan to return this Saturday so my other sister (from Round Rock) can enjoy the experience as well! We’ve also decided that Santorini Greek Grill will be our go to meeting place in the future, when we need to see each other but can’t do long visits.

Thank you, Lee, for putting up with our shenanigans! You are a wonderful waiter and we loved your kindness and service! We look forward to seeing you...

The Santorini Greek Grill just reopened after shutting its doors for several months. I was really excited to see their lighted sign that read "OPEN!" Some of the changes include- Order at the counter and pay Get Your own drink and plastic utensils No In hand menu's Food served on small oval paper plates/plastic dishware During my past visits, I ordered the Grilled Chicken Platter with lemon potatoes, Greek Salad, and Pita bread. This dish was served on a glass dinner plate with a decent size portion of all food. Fast forward to the reopened Santorini Greek Grill. The Greek Chicken Patter was served on a very small oval paper plate. The portion size overall appears to be much smaller. There was very little of the Greek Salad and it lacked the zesty dressing it once had. The lemon potatoe portion was about the same as in the past. The Chicken lacked the flavor it once had. The Santorini Greek Grill was and could return to what made me go and spend my money to eat there. I understand the need to cut conners to save money by not having dishes and silverware to wash. However, the small oval paper plate approach/smaller portions, and the food presentation itself miss the mark of attracting and keeping customers. Owners, your door sign, while closed, said "great things were coming!" Please make changes before you lose more business. This approach is going to cause your doors to close again. I have said this about other restaurants lacking/missing the mark and have never been wrong yet. Please fix the problem and keep that rude man with no personality from taking people's orders. Friendly people need to be taking people's...
