We haven't been to Braddock's in 20 years, but the opportunity presented itself for us to be out that way and have a nice dinner. We chose Braddock's and we won't be going back.
We were seated upstairs and there is zero atmosphere. It was Friday night at 7 PM and we were the only diners inside. The porch was full, but we were alone and the room was so freezing cold we needed to have our table moved and the fireplace turned on. It was an awkward atmosphere in a bare room. Eventually a couple other tables became occupied but it was dull. Downstairs was more alive.
Our server was a nice girl, but young and very inexperienced. She didn't understand pacing and had no sense of timing. When she came to get my wife's empty soup bowl, she saw I was still eating my salad. Instead of leaving, she actually said "Just a couple bites left" and stood over me as I tried to finish it. Not a few seconds either, but maybe 40 or 50? Need I say more about the service? Lets just say that was the level, and at a restaurant charging these prices, that is unacceptable.
The food was exactly as the category says: poor to fair. The bread was a couple microwaved rolls that bordered on inedible. The crab and corn chowder was fair, but so crazy hot that it too seemed like it was straight from the microwave. My arugula salad was terribly mismatched and bland. The grilled peaches were so ice cold that all flavor was gone. It was as if I had ice in my salad, no joke. The whole concoction simply didn't work. For dinner I had the short rib, which was as much fat as beef. The beef was tender, but the gristle was everywhere. It was presented poorly and turned cold quickly. The blueberry BBQ sauce was average and it was not a memorable dish.
My wife's Chicken and Crab dish deserves it's own paragraph. It was instantly the worst entree she ever received, dollar for dollar or otherwise. The description is "Grilled chicken topped with beefsteak tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and jumbo lump crab with a basil oil drizzle". What you get is a small fried chicken breast, completely plain, topped with 2 massive tomato slices. On top of that is maybe a few slivers of crab and some melted mozz that was firm by the time it hit the table. This topped a bed of mashed potatoes with the basil drizzle around the side. The first thing she did was pick the hard cheese up with the bits of crab stuck to it, and show me. What was left was the plain chicken and 2 huge tomato slices. There was no flavor, nothing worked together, and its price was obscene. The dish needs to either be removed from the menu or greatly altered.
We ordered a mac and cheese dish as a side. That was tasty, but the server brought no spoon to put it on our plates that she brought out for the shared mac n cheese. When asked, she brought back a soup spoon, which served little purpose. Nice girl, but she has no business in a $65 p/head restaurant.
Tab was $130 after tip. We didn't complain as we won't be going back. Something should have been said, but oh well.
If you go, sit downstairs and have fun. Order the bar food. If the mac and cheese was representative, I am sure the rest...
Read moreTo Peter, Chef, and everyone else at Braddock’s Tavern THANK YOU! From the wait staff, kitchen staff, front of house, and owners…you all rock and made our wedding truly an unforgettable experience for us and our families. We came in looking for a place for our wedding, leaving with friendships and a new spot that felt like home to us. We can’t express how appreciative we are to all of you.
When it came to deciding on a venue, we wanted to bring in a historical feel and have a brunch style wedding. We really wanted to find somewhere that spoke to who we are and work with a group of people who was just as excited about our wedding as we were. The first venue we looked at would not even return our phone calls, giving us the impression we were not big enough or important enough for their venue. That had us initially concerned going into our next meeting with Braddock’s Tavern.
Immediately though, Peter made us feel welcomed and comfortable. The three of us hit it off right away. You sensed that he and his staff take great pride in Braddock’s Tavern. Creating our menu together was one of the best experiences we had and Peter brought a depth of food and culinary knowledge into it. It really gave us the opportunity to tell our story through the food; whether it was the beignets, cereal bar, quail egg benedicts, or the chicken and waffles! Everyone who attended was absolutely blown away by the creativity of the food. Chef and his staff executed everything the way we envisioned it and left us all wanting more. Our guests have not stopped talking about how great everything was and how there was something for everyone.
We had dined with them between when we first decided on Braddock’s as our venue and our actual wedding day. What resonated most with us each time and on our wedding day was that Braddock’s made it their priority everyone had a memorable experience, from the food the Chef prepared or the service you received. Our family and guests received that same experience which really meant a lot to us.
Again, to everyone at Braddock’s Tavern thank you for everything you did for us leading up to the wedding and on the day of. You made it fun and exciting on so many levels and we look forward to getting back in soon!

Read moreI am one of the people who used to go to Braddock's for a fine dining experience. That is not to be had there anymore. I'm not a complainer and rarely write a review but our experience was so absurdly poor that I felt it was my duty to warn anyone that is preparing for a nice evening. Especially if you remember the Braddock's of old and expect it to be the same. It is not by any measure. Atmosphere: The intimate colonial dining room now has bar food on the menu and we were sitting by some tables that were pushed together full of loud people with t-shirts and baseball hats. So much for ambiance which was further disturbed by gutteral howls coming from the bar across the hallway (which also used to be pleasant...now I guess it's a sports bar). The excellent, experienced wait staff has been replaced by children with a rudimentary table side manner. Our filet mignon's were not up to par for the price and had to be returned to the kitchen to be cooked. They were seared on the outside and raw inside but we ordered them 'medium' done. You needed the steak knife to cut the asparagus and the Brussels sprouts were rock hard. We sent the asparagus back to be recooked. They presented us with a fresh plate and it too was uncooked. I really can't keep going... it was so absurdly terrible all we could do was look at each other and laugh...and realizing that this was the state of affairs we didn't even bother wasting our time with the owner when he came by asking how we were doing. The sin is that they are no cheaper than they used to be when they COULD serve you a nice dinner. It is obvious that this is beyond their capability now. It was a top dollar night for a low budget experience. We didn't want to stay for desert and drove to a roadside dinner down the highway for coffee and desert. I guess I gave two stars because it is still a lovely facility and I have fond memories of dates and family gatherings there....and I'm sure if you want to put on your best t-shirt and go down there for a beer and some mac-and-cheese (this seems to be their prized dish now according to some of the other reviews here) I don't doubt you will have a grand time. Don't throw big money expecting a fine dining experience because you aren't...
