As a professional visiting from out of town, I was looking forward to trying Project Sushi based on several positive recommendations. Unfortunately, my experience left me disappointed and uncomfortable, to the point that I chose to leave the restaurant and finish my meal in my car.
When placing my order, I requested a cup of water. However, I was charged for a vitamin water instead. While I fully understand that honest mistakes happen, what concerned me was the way it was handled afterward. I was not informed of the error at the time of the transaction. It was only after I took the initiative to request a receipt—after I had already sat down—that I became aware of the incorrect charge. At that point, staff informed me that the item had already been refunded.
Although I appreciate that the correction was made, the fact that it was not communicated upfront left me feeling disregarded. Had I not asked for the receipt, I would not have known about the charge or the refund. That lack of transparency made me question whether the situation would have been brought to my attention at all without my prompting.
As someone who is not local, the experience left me feeling distinctly out of place. I hesitate to make assumptions about intent, but I cannot ignore the discomfort the situation caused. Ultimately, I felt uneasy enough that I chose to leave the dining area entirely and eat my meal in my car.
While I recognize that errors occur, how those errors are addressed matters. In this case, the experience fell short of the level of professionalism, hospitality, and courtesy I expect—especially from a service-focused business. As a result, I do not...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place. The atmosphere is nice, it's decorated with a beach/surf theme. The furniture looks like it came from IKEA...not that that's a bad thing, it was rather trendy. We placed our order for a party of 3 with the guy with several facial piercings, very unkempt looking and wearing a stocking cap that said "F@CK It". His presentation would be better suited to work at a gas station, tattoo parlor or piercing place rather than at restaurant handling food. We waited about 45 minutes before Mr "F@CK It" hat approached us asking us to remind him what we ordered. All of a sudden some woman who just walked in the front door brought our food to the table. She wasn't wearing any kind of uniform or name tag. In fact she was still wearing a bulky winter coat. I had no clue who she was or more importantly why someone who looks like the general public would be delivering my food. The food was fair, the chicken was dry and over-cooked and it wasn't very flavorful. I feel the food is overpriced and not the best quality, compounded with a long wait and ill-prepared staff has resulted in a...
Read moreIt's hard to give this place enough praise. The quality of the food, the amicability of the service, and the prices were all a pleasurable rarity. I had stopped in to this little family owned restaurant a few weeks ago with a friend who had never tried sushi, sashimi, or raw fish in any form. When the two girls preparing the food heard of this, they prepared various, fresh cuts of fish for him so that he could try a variety and see what he liked. They went out of their way to give recommendations, and prepare two of the most refreshing poke bowls I've ever indulged in. The portions were more than enough, and for 13$ a bowl, I was impressed by how small a dent such high grade food put into my wallet. The only dissapointment with my experience was how few people seemed to know about this place. If you're passing through Medina and want one of the best Poke bowls in Ohio, stop in and let them know how great their...
