My husband brought take away from this place last week and the food was very good. So tonight we thought we would get some hummus, rice, and their garlic sauce to accompany our dinner. This being my first time there did not know what to expect. I ordered the food, everyone was pleasant and I waited. I noticed I paid over $14 for this and I thought that was a little expensive for what I ordered. I looked at the prices on their board and menu and I was charged more. As I delved into it a little more I saw a handmade sign that says “credit/debit cards 4% more” and I realized that charged me an additional 4% on every item. I will admit this bothers me, if you go into business especially nowadays people use plastic or Apple Pay and you need to be prepared to know this is the cost of doing business. , I was told my food was ready, I grabbed the bag and as I was walking out I thought the bag felt light, when I got in the car and looked in the bag I was furious! The hummus and the rice ($4 mind you) are in a plastic container that is no bigger than 3” in diameter and maybe and inch high. The garlic sauce was in a clear cup that you get when a restaurant gives you ketchup and that was $2! I called my husband and told him I would not come back to this place, not because of the food or the service, but because I don’t support a business that nickel and dimes their patrons out of fear of not making a profit. That kind of fear leads to businesses closing-maybe a lesson to learn. When I got home to show my husband what I explained to him over the phone I opened the hummus to take a bite and it’s covered in tomatoes. I am allergic to tomatoes and now I can’t even eat my minuscule amount of hummus and I will have to throw it away, bye bye $8! I might add there is no where in the description that mentions tomato’s, yet maybe another lesson...
Read moreI have been searching for a decent authentic Gyro place around Melbourne since moving here in 09 from Indiana. Al Baik fits the bill, now its important to not discredit the other local Gyro places around brevard as they're all good. But in my opinion Al Baik is the most authentic i have found. I can only speak to the Gyro as besides a BLT with extra B, a Gyro is probably the best type of sandwich on the planet, and one of the few things I've never been able to make at home (I cook a lot) so its all I have ever ordered.... However, the meat is always perfectly cooked and seasoned, not soggy like I've expierienced at other places, the veggies are always fresh as well. They make their own tzatziki sauce (best I've ever had), and although I'm not the biggest fan of hummus they make that too and its quite tasty.
I also want to mention the staff, it is always the same 2 people and they remember me when I visit, which I greatly appreciate. I not only enjoy going 1-2 times a week for a Gyro fix, but appreciate that they not only remember me but are very appreciative of my business, and very welcoming. I just recently discovered this spot and truly wish I would have found it sooner because its been exceptional each and every time. My 1st visit I ordered 2 Gyros because usually at most places they're on the smaller side and 1 isnt really enough but in the case of the Al Baik Gyros... I couldnt finish the 2nd... had to eat it the next day which was fine, stilly delicious, but point is its a testimate to the portions which are generous.
All and all, I normally don't write reviews for anything but in this case I am more than happy to not only support this small business but to encourage anyone in the Melbourne area who is looking for a good hefty Gyro to definately give Al Baik Kabob and Gyro House a try, I'm sure you wont be...
Read moreI tried the first time the other night as a quick pick up on the way home. Its in the plaza on apllo and sarno rd. You can barely see their sign. Upon walking in they greeted me with extremly friendly service and they were very polite and asked if I was the call in (they said my name too!) They were prompt with my order and as they were bagging I saw the tobacco Sriracha hot sauce and she grabbed a 2oz cup and lid for me to take some to go. Since she saw I liked hot stuff she also grabbed me a small 2 oz cup of the fire feta to try! Super nice. I got the gyro platter that comes with delicious pilaf rice, a side salad, and side hummus with pita. It was a HUGE portion, you will either not finish or be extremly full. I also got a lamb gyro wrap and a side of French fries. Lastly I had to try the falafel as its one of my faves. All were extremly delicious. The lamb gyro is on a spit, meat is very tasty. The wrap has lettuce which my other half loves, he hates when other gyro places don't put lettuce in the wrap. The pita is also not your cheap store bought pita. Its a real pita wrap! Finally! The falafel was amazing! Next up might be the falafel wrap it is that good. It came with Tahiti sauce as it should. Now the fire feta.....I will for SURE be ordering this next time! Eat it eith your fries or pita bread....omgosh so good! Thank you for being such a great place and everyone please...
