I had a very disappointing experience here. I ordered a take out which ended up taking over 35min without being informed. I understand any business has its ups and downs, crazily busy days and quiet days just like any other but communication is the key..! From what I overheard while waiting, it was just the woman and her husband working today which made sense for a delayed service but I feel she should have told me that it was going to take a while with an estimated wait time when or before I placed an order. I had two toddlers waiting in a car. If I had known it was going to take 30+ min, I would have either dropped them off at home or gone somewhere else. Any respectable restaurants would let their customers know of the expected wait time if it will be 30min or longer. It just doesn't feel right to expect your customer to wait endlessly without being informed. She didn't even say sorry for the wait or thank you for waiting when she could have seen I wasn't pleased with waiting like that. She just said ma'am when handing me the food and walked away when I was going to say something. I got chicken with mixed vegetables in white sauce. I liked it wasn't too salty but overall, it was average which means I can find many alternatives at other Asian restaurants. Unfortunately, I wouldn't go back because of the unprofessionalism and service quality.
-replying to your comment; You must be confusing me with someone else. Your defense is absolutely not true. You did not inform me that you had 2 orders ahead and did not thank me. I saw 4 tables as I walked in and one table with two ladies had their food out. I saw you took an order from another table with a man and woman as I walked in. Another table with two men turned out to be a take out and their order must have been taken before me. The last 4th table didn't order until after me because they were waiting for another company to join. The 5th table came in after me. Yes, my babies were waiting in my car with my husband and they were getting cranky over a long wait. That is not your concern or business but like I mentioned in my original comment, communication is the key. If you had informed me of an estimated wait time, I could have either dropped off my kids and husband at home so they were more comfortable or we could have gone somewhere else and try yours another day. You could have still checked on me and given me an update on my order but none of...

We asked for waters and 1 iced tea and they only had fruit infused water that you had to get yourself. My coworker never got her iced tea. We then waited a very long time for her to take our table's order and she even took a table's order before ours that had come in after us. She asked everybody at my table their order and then began walking away when she got to me. I turned around and said you didn't get my order and she stops and points at me and rudely tells me to hold on. She then comes back after awhile to take my order and tells our table our apps will be out soon. They weren't. Throughout our service she would walk away mid sentence to do something else and did this with all other customers as well cutting them off while speaking. We waited so long for our food to come out that we had to go. One of the guests at my table got up to ask her for boxes for everyone. Again mid sentence she walked away from him. She comes back after another long while with only 2 boxes. He tells her he wanted to get boxes for the whole table explaining we had to go back to work. She proceeds to tell the table behind us that we changed our minds and that she has to get us boxes, blaming us for not being able to help her in that moment. We wait another while and finally get our checks and as we're leaving doesn't acknowledge or thank us for coming in. Also, the silverware was not wrapped and she placed the forks and spoons on the table which is a hygiene issue. The only redeeming quality this restaurant has is the food. Absolutely delicious!! The service and the chef's wife? Unprofessional, rude and slow (it was not busy when we went). They need to hire an actual wait staff and keep his wife in the back where she doesn't interact with customers. TLDR: SERVICE IS TRASH BUT FOOD IS GOOD SO GET YOUR ORDER TO GO AND ORDER AHEAD OF TIME! ps. Our table was very patient and kind and I don't often leave...
Read moreAsian Gourmet Restaurant- Melbourne- 2 Stars As a pure trencherman my hunger is seldom abated, however what began as an inviting and enjoyable experience devolved into an ancient morality play lacking a Greek chorus. The Asian Gourmet is run by a stern woman who acts like she was sent out of central casting as a World War II Japanese water torture expert. I ordered the Pad Thai and a crispy fish filet with green curry. I potentially would have ordered something different except that our server, "June," had very little grasp of the English language. This always puzzles me. Why would you not hire just one person who is fluent in English in order to explain the menu? This was my first foray into this level of Thai cuisine and I had questions. Anyway, the Pad Thai had little tiny frozen shrimp that were rubbery. The upside was the peanut sauce. It was creamy, balanced and full of flavor. The crispy fish filet was a frozen filet that had been microwaved. I smelled the fish and I could not detect anything because the sauce and vegetables were strong. I cut the fish and as soon as it reached my mouth I knew instantly it was bad. It had turned. I told June that the fish was bad. She took the plate and went in the back. At this point, the owner stormed out and started yelling--and I mean yelling--at me in Thai. Then she screamed in English, "NOTHING WRONG WITH FISH!" I tried to explain to her that it had turned. To my shock and amazement she shoved the entire filet into her mouth and ate it, then said, "See, nothing wrong!" I replied, "I hope you didn't just give yourself food poisoning." Luckily, I have broad shoulders and things like this never embarrass me because of course at this point the entire restaurant was staring. So, I politely asked, "May I have my check please?" I paid the bill and quietly left. Big Boy says...
