My wife saw this Del Taco on Wickham road. She kept talking about it. I had very little interest in this place and kept redirecting her when she was like "let's try Del Taco!" Until last night. She came up with a plan to get me on board with Del Taco using fish tacos as a hook to reel me into trying out this place. I'm a huge fan of fish tacos. Hooters has some pretty good ones. Mustards Last Stand in downtown Melbourne...excellent fish tacos. Del Taco is in a league of its own though. I have to assume that Del Taco sampled fish tacos from all over Brevard county and thought "these are great! We should do this!" Then they found out ingredients were pricy so they decided they would go to the save a lot dumpster and whatever fish and taco shells and what not they could dig out of that dumpster , THAT is what they would use to make their own brand of fish tacos. It's a gimmick, everyone else does good fish tacos so they decided that in order to stand out from the other restaurants they would not try for the very best fish tacos, they would instead produce the very worst possible garbage of anyone to get people talking about their restaurant. They must be the "any publicity is good publicity" kind of people. That's all I can think because the fish tacos were just so terrible there is no possible way they could have made them tacos and sold them unless they INTENTIONALLY wanted them to be horrible. It takes just as much effort to make the worst possible food you can as to make the best right? I mean if you can't be a leader in your field then just be absolutely dead last by a wide margin so at least people will know who you are. That's the only thing that makes sense because otherwise I can't think of an explanation as why they would make these tacos so terrible. In conclusion don't go to Del Taco. If you have to go to that gas station that's catty corner across the street from them and buy fish tacos in there try that first because you definitely don't want anything from Del Taco that place...

Swill Alert!
McDonalds once responded to a lawsuit by stating "We do not promote our food as healthy." That one statement sums up the bulk of fast food. What is important is consistency. You can go to a Mickey Ds in Anchorage, Alaska; San Diego, California; or Miami, Florida; and get the exact same quality at each location.
That said, the other day I found myself randomly generated to visit Brevard's only fast-food (or is this supposed to be fast-casual?) location for Del Taco, a chain which speciously claims in its the tagline to be, "Better Mex." I beg to differ. Although I've read that Del Taco aims to target a space between Taco Bell and Chipotle, I would much rather walk into either of those establishments than ever set foot in Del Taco again.
Listen, I came in with an open mind. There is a time and place for fast or fast casual food.
As is my custom, I ordered three menu items with promising names and descriptions.
The first was billed as the "Samuel Adams' Beer Battered Crispy Fish Taco."
The second was promoted as the "New Carne Asada Cheddar Quesadilla."
The last was introduced as the "New Crispy Chicken & Guac Epic Torta," advertised on the menu as being made with "100% Fresh Guacamole." Epic? Really? I think not.
I'm not going to waste my time discussing this food. It's Slop.
The only bright spot was Amy, the cashier. She was kind and professional, and when the guy in front of me was asking about gluten and soy, she answered all his questions with patience and a smile.
The Big Boy says, "Do yourself a favor and skip Del Taco. This place is worse than Da Kine Diego's Insane Burrito in Satellite Beach, and now takes the award for absolute worst food in Brevard County."...
Read moreUpdate/edit: this location seems to have corrected the problem. In the past month or so, I've been in the area just after 3:00 pm, and they now seem to indeed start their Taco Tuesday special at 3:00 pm, like their sign says. Changing from 2 stars to 4 stars.
Displayed prominently in the front of this Del Taco restaurant, there are official signs advertising "Taco Nights" specials. The signs specify that these deals run from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, which might lead you to believe that you can make use of these specials from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. But, you would be wrong, because that would make too much sense.
Each time I have tried to make use of the Taco Tuesday special for 3 Del Tacos, it has been a struggle. The staff is a bit impatient/rude about this special deal, and do not seem well-trained to be aware of their own store's signs. My first attempt, after about 10 minutes of discussion, the staff figured out how to enter the special in the register. The next two attempts, I was told that the Taco Tuesday special runs from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Well . . . that's not what your own sign says . . .
I work full-days starting early in the morning and ending around 3:00 pm. I'd like to buy some Del Tacos for dinner on Tuesdays, but I eat dinner right after getting out of work, so I will not wait. Instead, I'll just eat elsewhere. Which is exactly what I did today, after being told that the Taco Tuesday special does not start until 5:00 pm. This is pretty simple: unnecessary lost business for Del Taco, and it's unfortunate and strange at how this store continues to mismanage their...
