Fiesta Azteca Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Melbourne

My family are regular weekly customers and have always enjoyed coming here, but unfortunately, after our experience on Cinco de Mayo, we won’t be returning.

We were excited for the celebration but left incredibly disappointed. The menu was extremely limited, and none of the options appealed to our table of four. We ended up just ordering margaritas, queso, and guacamole. We usually upgrade our margaritas with premium tequila and Grand Marnier, but were told Grand Marnier wasn’t available and that we could only order from the limited menu. Oddly enough, my husband was still able to order a custom liquor drink not listed. After speaking with the manager, they made our margaritas with the upgraded tequila (minus the Grand Marnier), which were much better than the overly sweet, mix-heavy ones we were first served. Unfortunately, they were served in small plastic cups, which felt cheap compared to their usual glassware.

The queso was bland, watery, and tasted like it came from a can - was not what I'm normally served. The guacamole was not their usual fresh tableside type version, but instead a lackluster pre-made version. We all left hungry and disappointed.

While our waitress was kind and friendly as she always is, the manager and the staff member who brought our drinks were noticeably rude—rolling their eyes and visibly annoyed that we were making any requests outside the limited menu.

I could understand if they were overwhelmed, but there were empty tables and no wait—very different from the first place we tried, where the wait was over an hour. It felt like providing a quality experience just wasn’t a priority—and now we understand why they weren’t as busy as the other Mexican restaurants.

I have eaten here several times before and it has been great. But tonight it was just god awful. My waitress could have cared less that she had a customer. She was to busy hanging out with the bartender to do her job. So I got seated and after close to ten minutes the hostess finally comes and asks me for my drink order I place my appetizer order since no waitress has shown up. It's the hostess who brings my drink and appetizer not the waitress. Finally the waitress shows up to take my order and it's another waitress who brings it out as I can see my waitress is busy flirting with the bartender. The food is rotten because the sour cream has spoiled it's rancid. But I can't tell anyone because my waitress has never returned but I have a clear view of her hanging out with the bartender and the hostess is now gone. So finally the waitress drops off my check on the run as she is in a hurry to get back to the bartender so I can't tell her about the rancid food. She never comes back. So I take my check to the hostess to pay and she could care less that the food was rotten and the service was bad. Oh and by the way the place was mostly empty only about three tables had customers. Visiting Melbourne and stopped in for lunch with a couple colleagues. The place was a ghost town except for a few poor souls.

I ordered the lunch chicken taco dish and it was inedible. Tried my best to load with sour cream to mask the taste but it was really really bad. I could only muster 2 bites because the chicken tasted like fish!! Gross!! One of the people I was with ordered a chicken enchilada and complained of the same issue. The other person I was with ordered steak and they did not enjoy it either although at least that did not taste like fish.

The decor was odd to say the least with Corona beach umbrellas inside the restaurant, I can see what they were going for but it is a dated and tacky look. The bathrooms were very clean and smelled great. Our waitress wasn't great but was kind; bless her heart.

This place qualifies as a kitchen nightmare! Stay away if you can. To the owner(s) please seriously consider firing your management staff and relaunching with some much needed changes. The menu is too big! Stick to a small menu with FRESH ingredients and great tequila. Hope to see this place turn around bc it is...
