My son went to Gamestop as he usually does, and purchased a $130.00 set of wireless headphones. When he returned home, he realized they were not bluetooth compatible. Reading the fine print on the paper receipt, it stated that they could not be returned. I quickly said to him, let's take a ride up to the store to see if they would exhange, as it was purchased a half an hour prior.
We went into the store and the young man behind the counter said he could not help us because the box had been opened. I explained to him that my son has special needs, and this was an honest mistake. I pointed out that there was no visible signage of this policy anywhere in the store, and to be honest was quite surprised as they do trade ins of used gaming systems. (As my Son and his siblings have done numerous times) He suggested that I come back the next day as the store manager would be there.
I went back the next day, and spoke with the manager, who basically said that he could not do anything as it is corporate policy. I told her that I was not looking for a refund, just an exchange. The product was never used, only removed from the box and put back in the box. All the original packaging was there with the exception of the clear tape that sealed the box. She then referred me to a customer service # to call at the corporate level.
I then went home, and placed that phone call. I spoke to a very nice young lady who heard my story and agreed that this was unacceptable. She asked me to send over a copy of the receipt via email, which I did. And she indicated that they would take care of the situation.
From that point, crickets... No emails back, no correspondence whatsoever.
I called back on numerous occasions and all I got was the run around.
My wife finally was able to get someone on the phone who said that they could not make the call, and that it was the decision of the store that made the sale.
I have 5 children, all gamers. They have been patronizing Gamestop for years. Buying and trading new and used electronics for as long as I can remember. I am sure that they will go back, because of who they are. But friends, I will tell you that I will never spend another dollar in that store or any Gamestop ever again.

Let me preface by explaining that GameStop policy states that if you aren’t satisfied with a purchase of a pre-owned game, that you can return the game within a certain period of time. I played a game once on my PS4 and a day later said I wanted to return it (to exchange for another, more expensive game that I was going to pay the difference for), but the manager said I couldn’t return it because I had played it. Was very aggressive towards me as well and embarrassed me in front of his employees and the other customers present. Decided to go to the Melbourne Mall instead and explained the situation. Left there a lot happier and with the game I wanted. In regards to the situation at the Wickham location, I have moved since then, so I cannot speak for their current staff situation, but that was a poor example of customer service and dropped my expectations for further interactions with the brand. It was clean, organized, the three employees that were there were just AWESOME! We were greeted on our way in. They were quick to answer any questions every customer in the store had. They were so kind and attentive. The woman there even went the extra mile to look online for a product that wasn't in store for me. I didn't even ask, she offered. The guys were just as great.
