Mexico Lindo — Restaurant in Melrose

I will start by saying I’ve been here a couple of times largely because of how great the food is. We strongly believe the portions, quality and price are excellent value.

The ambiance is always lively and popping. Great music and a nice patio area out back when the weather heats up.

The service is the only negative of this restaurant, but it is a big one. Although the receptionist and employees who refill your chips/salsa are extremely friendly and nice, the waiters always provide poor service. Our bad experience with waiter Oscar resulted in this review.

We were seated quickly and received our first round of chips/dip. Great. While checking out the menu, our waiter (Oscar) asked if we were ready to order. Nope, still need a minutes to decide. Ok, no problem. 20 minutes go by without a word from Oscar. Even then, I understand it’s Father’s Day and busy, so I can let that go. However, I see Oscar waiting the adjacent tables very attentively and grab his attention so we can order our food. I’m given a curt and rude “give me a second” before he disappears again. Finally he reappears and I’m able to put in my order, however this experience dampened my mood and ruined an otherwise pleasant evening.

Although he took forever to wait on us for food, he had no problem being quick to get the bill and take my card.

The restaurant is very accessible for visually impaired people like myself except for the menu, but that was not a problem. The service was incredible. The atmosphere was great. Outside tables were a lot more busy and noisier, but inside was a lot more calm and relaxing. Perfect for a date. The food was delicious from the chips and salsa that are served fresh to the large dish that my wife and I shared. Everything was delicious. I am born in Mexico and can definitely say this has been the best Mexican restaurant in all of Massachusetts that I've been to and super budget friendly. I would definitely recommend and would go back 🙂 my favorite dish was the large plate of steak sausage, also known as chorizo rice beans, chicken shrimp that is served together in a big Stone bowl and the fresh cheese along with scallions really adds flavor. Called to ask where they were located, as I've never been there before. It didn't appear that the girl who answered the phone had a good grasp as to where they were located. Parked and asked a stranger where the place was. Got there, 4 people sitting around doing nothing. I asked where my party was (gave them the name of the person I was supposed to meet). They said they didn't know what I was talking about. The people were sitting 3 feet away. DUH. Either these people at Mexico Lindo are TOTALLY clueless, or... their customer service skills need some work. Either way, it was okay, food wise and our waiter, Uriel (not sure I'm spelling it right);was great.

Needless to say, I'm sure there's better places in Melrose, Mexican or otherwise.
