MY DINER — Restaurant in Melrose

Hands down, one of the best Diners/breakfast spots in the Boston area...Certainly the best one around the Melrose area, and I've been to my fair share of diners around.

Service: Always exceptional and very friendly.

Food: Always consistent and DELICIOUS. I basically regret every time I try to branch out and try a different breakfast spot. My wife and I look at each other after the first bite and agree My Diner is better!

Parking: Yes it's limited but the place is downtown Melrose so that's to be expected.

Restaurant Space: Small but cozy, expect a wait as a result, but we never seem to wait more than 5-10 minutes and most our trips there (couple of times a month) we didn't have to wait. We have two small children and that's not an issue for us.

Restrooms: Always clean BUT, you will have to go through the kitchen and down a flight of steps to get there.

Pricing: VERY reasonable especially given the portion size. Certainly the best around this area given the superior quality. Like a lot of things there was an increase in prices since COVID which was disappointing but understandable given everything else around also went up.

My 5 stars is regarding the food only which is what matters the most...

As a frequent diner goer (top 10% Google reviewer), My Diner is a below average diner in terms of food quality, with many better options in the area. I ordered 3 eggs over-easy, steak tips (medium), with wheat toast. The steak tips weren’t steak tips. It was super tough and zero flavor to it. It’s like the meat wasn’t even marinated…not to mention the toughness of it means they use the wrong quality of steak for “steak tips”. The potatoes that came on the side was extremely bland as well. Overall, the food was bland and flavorless. Was super underwhelming.

The staff at My Diner are some of the most friendly diner staff you will encounter, however. The niceness of the staff bumped my rating up to 3 stars, because they work hard and still treated all the customers in a friendly manner. Sadly the quality of food makes My Diner a diner I’d avoid, unless the other diners in Melrose...

Just came here for the first time, soon as we walked in we asked for one coffee and one chocolate milk. They don’t actually make the milk with chocolate syrup they just hand you a prepackaged chocolate milk. We tried to order from the hot foods section and the waiter told us we couldn’t because it was 8am and not 10am which is fine some establishments do that. Then I wanted chicken but you can’t order chicken because on weekends they don’t have a fryer. So I asked the waiter if we could just pay for the coffee and return the sealed chocolate milk to which she said no because she already “handed it to me” and charged me for both drinks. We were in there for maybe 5 minutes. It’s the principle, you’re going to charge someone for something when you just put it in their hands and they said nevermind they want to leave? A PREPACKAGED SEALED BOTTLE at that. Couldn’t help but laugh, never...
