My husband and I were losing some faith with Memphis after going to Central BBQ but this place completely changed our minds. First off, it's a hole-in-a-wall kinda spot and the area is also pretty rough so just be cautious if you're heading here. There's a private parking lot near the back and an entrance you can use to get inside (it's on both sides but if you want to be more discreet walking in, then go through the back door). I believe it was the owner who took our order and made our food- he was nice and gave us suggestions on what we should get. We ordered a full slab of ribs, smoked sausage lunch combo with potato salad and baked beans. They aren't doing dine-in currently due to COVID so take-outs only.
The ribs y'all... it was so flavorful! It absolutely hit the spot (we couldn't stop eating). It's different from Texas BBQ but it's worth trying to understand other flavor profiles. It was nice, smokey, with hints of sweetness. The meat was moist and not hard to chew. The smoked sausage also had similar flavors like the ribs but it was in a hot dog bun. The BBQ sauce paired very well with the meats (I love me some BBQ sauce). The sides were phenomenal- potato salad tasted great and the baked beans had the right amount of sweetness and flavor with each bite). This place will completely change your mind when you think of Memphis style BBQ. Go check them out and support! Also, they do take cash or card but bring some...
Read moreIt's straight. Idk what to say about it. The guy that took my order was friendly and when I had an issue he took care of it. It's just not the best bbq in Memphis to me. Everything was ok. Will I return? No. Then I don't like the small parking lot. The raggedy street leading to the parking lot is horrible if you have rims or special tires like I do. Then the area where you place your order is extremely small. When other patrons enter, it's like jam packed. Two of us entered...ok, that was fine. Then a family of 4 entered. We had to step outside because there is no space. Why they have tables and didn't offer us to sit at these tables so we wouldn't be packed in that small space was crazy. The business survived the pandemic so maybe there's something good there. I just didn't receive it that day. The look seasoning they put on top of everything is salty af. The bbq sauce is thin and vinegar. An option with a thicker and sweet bbq sauce would help out the taste with the salty af seasoning they put on everything. Sweet and salty would equal balance. Again, idc for it but others...
Read moreIt doesn't look like much when you drive by, only two small tables outside but it smelled right and all the other BBQ places near Graceland opened late or did not look good. Tri-tip was the special of the day, Memphis style which meant really thick dry rub. Smoke was good, nice sauce but a little chewier than I expected, The generous sized portion was enjoyed twice. We also had the local favorite BBQ Spaghetti which is pulled pork mixed in marina and pasta, not bad but not memorable. The smoked corn was sweet as could be with plenty of butter and a hit of rub that really added another flavor profile. The cole slaw was on point and the Nana Pudding was so good it was gone before I could remember to take a picture. Service is excellent, inviting and the prices are low.
