A 5-Star Mediterranean Delight at Happy Greek on Highland

Our visit to Happy Greek on Highland was nothing short of exceptional! From the moment we placed our order over the phone, to the moment we took our last bite, the experience was flawless.

The customer service was outstanding—both over the phone and in person. Majd, our cashier, was a true gem: pleasant, patient and genuinely friendly. He made us feel warmly welcomed and ensured our visit started on the right note.

The restaurant itself was spotless and inviting, creating the perfect setting for an enjoyable meal. As for the food—it was phenomenal! Everything was fresh, perfectly seasoned and served in generous portions.

We indulged in the Memphis Style Gyro, the Chicken Shawarma Hummus Bowl with all the toppings, Dolmas and a Greek Salad appetizer. Each dish was bursting with flavor, showcasing the vibrant essence of Mediterranean cuisine. It’s rare to find a place where every item you order exceeds expectations, but Happy Greek delivered.

If you’re a fan of Mediterranean food, I can’t recommend Happy Greek enough. This restaurant has truly set the bar high and we’ll definitely be back. Without hesitation, I...

I've been to every single middle eastern/Mediterranean style restaurant/cafe in Memphis, TN. Worked at several locations as well. This restaurant broke new barriers in what Memphis has to offer when it comes to foreign cuisine. Happy Greek offers sandwiches, rice and hummus bowls, salads (all vegetarian options) and delicious sides! I was surprised at the cost of this place, as you should be spending $8-$11 with a regular menu item! Pretty cost efficient considering I hardly finished my bowl.

What I ordered: Regular Chicken Shawarma Rice Bowl (assembled traditionally) with baklava for dessert. ----Everything was absolutely delicious with my favorite part being the pickles I added to my bowl (not that big of a deal but just tastes like back home).

Aside from food tasting great I really do believe professionalism and customer service help hold the restaurant in place. Happy Greek is right by the University of Memphis campus, and hungry/stressed college students can be hectic to any restaurant environment. I am sure right in time for the Spring Semester 2019 this place WILL be a hot spot for students, professors, and commuters...

The Beef and Lamb Gyro is the best gyro I have ever had in my life. Every bite was just so tasty--the beef and lamb was cooked to perfection, exactly how you want it in a gyro. The vegetables were super fresh and delivered that little bit of crispy crunch that complimented the rest of the gyro so perfectly. And then the pita itself was simply delicious...seemed to melt in my mouth in some bites. It is hard to articulate why it was so good, perhaps they bake the pita bread in house.... Finally, this is the spot for gyros that I have been waiting for in Memphis for so long.

I also had the Chicken Shwarma, and it too was outstanding, although I think I preferred the Beef and Lamb gyro.

I look forward to trying other items on the menu. I was tempted to get an order of the Hummus, but at $10 it seemed a bit pricey--looks like it was only a few years go when it was $6. I was tempted to drop my review down to 4-4.5 stars because of this, but the gyros were...

What a find! The Happy Greek is a great little Greek cafe located near the University of Memphis. It's small, but the folks are super friendly and the food is delicious. I had a gyro and my wife had a hummus bowl. We split an excellent Greek salad. Couldn't have been better! If you go, be aware that almost all the tables are for two. There's only one that would accommodate more. But for a cozy dinner, it's hard to beat! Highly recommended! We will be back.

We had a great night out. The mother is so friendly, we felt like we were amongst family. The service was amazing. I was craving a gyro and this place took care of that need. I also tried the galaktoboureko, which is a lot easier to eat than pronounce. But it was fun trying to get it right. My husband wanted to go back the next day but we ran out of time on our visit. Will certainly be back again when in the area.
